Excellent Supplement for Student or Traveler,
By Marissa Bracke "Can-Do-Ologist & Perpetual Cu... (Ossian, Indiana (United States)) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Jiffy Phrasebook German (Book Only) (English and German Edition) (Turtleback)
For me, the trickiest part about foreign languages is figuring out in what order the words come together, and how various phrases are used. This is ideal for solving such problems! Super organization of phrases and ideas into different categories (clothes, travel, etc.) makes it easy to find the words/phrases you need, and there are often several variations listed to help you identify exactly how to say what you intend to say. This book alone will not "teach" you the language, but it is an invaluable tool to supplement a class or a travel to a German-speaking nation. Dictionaries are often vague, usually giving little instruction in how to put words together or conjugate verbs to form a sentence or phrase. This book is so much better than a dictionary alone for that exact reason--this book DOES put the words together for you, so you see not only what words to use, but HOW to use them. (This is not a dictionary, it should be noted--I suggest using this in addition to a dictionary, rather than using either book alone.)
