The heavy duty Model J-4000M Commercial garment steamer is equipped with 1500 watts of steaming power. The J-4000M is equipped with a 1 gallon self-contained water tank with preheat and steam settings and a 5 ½ foot hose attachment with metal steam head with a wood handle at the end of the hose. This type of hose attachment is more durable, but does get hot around the metal and tends to be heavier than the plastic steam head and handle combination. It also has a sight gauge on the side of the steamer to view water level and sediment build-up at a glance. The J-4000M heats up within 15 minutes to preheat temperature and produces steam within 2 minutes once at the preheat temperature. I've never had a steamer before, so I can't really compare this to other ones.
All I can say is that my husband takes care of his shirts himself, in half an hour or less, once a week - 5 shirts in half an hour or less :-D !!!
I guess having some of the Jiff's accessories would help with steaming blouses, trousers and some other clothes. I know that they have a board that would help, but there's nothing that we can't live without or would make me not buy the steamer. I'll probably purchase it some day.
In the beginning we burned ourselves with the steam a little bit, but we quickly learned how to use it safely. Nothing to worry about.
Happy with the acquisition for 2 years now.
