I purchased this steamer because my wool baseball hats had shrunked from exposure to sweat. I also have some western hats that needed to be reshaped and resized from years of abuse. The steamer is very well made and comes fully assembled. You fill up the plastic bottle with distilled water and place it in the unit. There is a check valve in the bottle to prevent spills. After turning on the power steam becomes available in about 2-3 minutes. I had no problem using the unit to resize and reshape my hats and it makes plenty of steam. As a note of caution, this is not a toy and should not be used by children without adult supervision. The steam can easily cause burns if your hands get too close to the nozzle. Also, if you are planning on resizing you hats you will also need to buy a hat stretcher. I purchased the one made by Killer Hats and it works well.
