Jean Cochois a very gifted house producer. The brilliance of this album is that even with the atmospherics and sometimes ambient sound, Jean still keeps it very DEEP. A really unique style of House music. This music is jazzy and beautifully composed, but still has a touch of groovin' House to shake that behind to the dancefloor!

The first thing I ever heard from the Timewriter was "Sunsetwalkin" on WRCT 88.3 fm, in the fall of 98. Needless to say, I fell in love with the track. "Jigsaw Pieces" to me, not only sums up the distinctive sound of the Timewriter, but the sound of Plastic-City as well; lush, futuristic, and sensual. This is the kind of record you play after coming down from a night at the club, or just wandering around aimlessy at 4 in the morning. The pictures on the album inset, are reminiscent of key moments of life, nostalgic at best. Kind of like Boards of Canada (okay, maybe I'm pushing it.). The music is photographic and displays major maturity from Cochois and PLastic City. If you don't got this album, get it before it goes out of print. If you're a fan of Terry Lee Brown, Jr., Thomas Fehlmann, Thomas Brinkmann, and the more progressive tech sounds, this is one you shouldn't pass up.

This is an excellent album for House fans. Deep, thumping beats keep the sound moving. "Plastic City" seems to have a few good artists like this and one would be wise to check them out. If you like the pounding style of Terry Lee Brown Jr. then you should like this also. Lots of variety and even a little "New Age" sound thrown in.

Whether I am driving through the miles of forest and mountains of NZ's South Island, lying on a beach with my MD or just mixing in my bedroom, there is one album that always leaves me in a state of bliss. While I must admit to being more of a progressive, tech house and Bukem-style jungle fan than lounge or ambient, this album has all the elements to both relax and stimulate the mind, body and soul. A brilliant culmination of house beats, atmospheric sweeps and samples, and skilful instrumentals, Jigsaw Pieces captivates the listener from start to finish. I have played this album to many of my friends, most of whom have listened to dance music seriously for the last 5 or 6 years or so, and none of them, even those who claim not to like house, have been anything short of astounded. This album could seem a bit quiet and repetitive for the average dance music rookie, but anybody with sophisticated tastes in any type of music will love this album. This has been my very favourite album for what must be over 2 years now, if you buy it I am sure that it will be yours too. (and if you have turntables, buy the vinyl pack, not only is this album beautiful to listen too, it is heaven to mix).

The second I became aware of The Timewriter via my Plastic City CD's, I was immediately hooked. I happened across Jigsaw Pieces on a trip to New York, and little did I know what was waiting for me inside that jewel case. Although, I must admit that as a whole, it is a bit much to digest the whole CD in one sitting because one is continually reminded of the common thread that binds all the tracks together, making it a bit tiresome or monotonous by the end. But disected, and taking each track as a separate entity, the utter miracle of sound that comes through time and time again just blows the mind. My ultimate favorite is Almost Lost, but all the others are just as amazing in their own way. Even The Timewriter's track Smashing Friendship off of the Plastic City Machinery compilation is worth finding if you're a true devotee of this musical genius. Vive la France, baby!

This is the only CD I've ever heard that you can dance to if you want or listen to while sipping wine and lounging. The first track is really cool. It starts off with strings that slowly transform into synthesizers and then flow into "Here Comes the Sun". From there it's like a house album, but with a very meditative, non-repetitive quality that is almost like a mix between classical music and BT. Terrific!!!

I think that just about sums it up. This is a beautifully produced master piece. How can one person produce such poetry. Fitting for every mood (strange). Deep deep house of the highest quality. This has gone strait to my number 1 spot. Enjoy!

I purchased this CD encouraged by positive reviews and what can I say? absolute beauty! Where can I start...The CD may be a bit too much to be appreciated in one sitting, but like a fine wine, it's magic takes time to fully reveal itself. Jean F Cochois takes the genres of house, classical and ambient and veers outside of traidtional 'pigeonholing', he approaches the song in a melodic and carefully structured vein - he injects each and every song with a deep spirituality. The spirtuality is not dogmatically based, but more universal and uplifting - a definite FEELING. I've had this CD for 2 years and I still find new sounds within the songs to appreciate. Best listened to while lying on your bed, in a dimly lit room with good hi-fi equipment. Amazing!

When a techno aficanado friend of mine gave made me a tape of this cd, she warned me about it being ambient and minimal for my tastes...but I found it just the opposite. In fact, I found these true deep tech-house tracks to be the perfect blend of those elements. The instrumentation is so dead on...the jazzy tracks are just brassy enough for the deep rolling sophistication of the entire CD. I am really quite impressed. There is one track on the compilation on which I wish the vocals (which in every other track take an appropriate backseat or disapear entirely) would just go away, but other than that, Cochois (The Timewriter) has really done a fine job. I would definitly recommend this CD for anyone interested in a nice chilled back ride home from work or play.
