hot by the end,
By A Customer
This review is from: Jill: Part-Time Lover (Paperback)
I picked this up because I had really liked "Girl" after having accidentally stumbled across it. It was graphic, unreal, funny, crude, and yet highly sophisticated in an ametuerish way. Alot of the simplistic drawings are more talented and streamlined than they appear at first glance. The same applies here, in fact, at first I did not take to the smooth shiny color. His black and white drawings had grown on me too much, and the color did not hit me as attractive at first. Once I started into the book though, it grew on me quckly. I, actually enjoyed some of the strange subplots going on in "Girl", but this book don't nec. suffer from leaving those out and sticking with the sex. If you're interested in hard core graphic novels, Taylors are the ultimate. Even though the sex is harder and cruder than most, its the perfect place to start, because, although all his characters do is sex, the book feels like theres more to it than just porno-toons. Great stuff... don't buy this, though, without grabbing "Girl" as well.

Great graphic novel,
This review is from: Jill: Part-Time Lover (Paperback)
Adult Full-Color graphic novel.
Man, Jill is sure one hot woman. Right, sorry. This book is about a young woman named Jill. Jill narrates the story through the method of an "audio" diary. Jill just moved out of her parent's home a couple of months ago and needs some money to pay her bills but is having trouble keeping jobs. Man that girl is hot. The story starts with Jill waking up with three men after getting drunk with them at a bar. She tries to disengage, succeeds and leaves to try to arrive at her job on time but she is already late. She slips into some skin tight clothes without adding underwear to her ensemble and heads off to her clothing store job (oh, and her tights are semi-transparent). In her get-up, Jill makes a lot of sales at the store, but knows that she is going to get fired. While Jill is in the break room, the store owner's son enters and oops, out pops his huge johnson. While they are having some fun the manager looks in, is shocked, and leaves. After the "fun" is over, the kid gives Jill some money (oh, and that "fun" has made certain sections on the waist of Jill's tights completely transparent). Despite selling a lot of merchandise, Jill is told that she will be let go at the end of the week. While attempting to set some sales records Jill is approached by some men that want to know how to "get" with her. She tells them to pay her. They don't want to do that and leave. Two other men overhear and wander up and ask how much and then offer $1000. Jill isn't certain if she really wants to "rent" herself and has to think about it. She thinks about it after work when she goes to the bar with a female friend. She decides to do it. She goes to the address the men gave her and the men show up, and lead her into a dark alley to a dirty mattress. They end up being rather huge, give Jill a lot of pleasure, and then give her $2000. Jill's new career begins (or continues after being paid by the store owner's son). The story continues for another 38 or so pages. Jill: "I actually look forward to going to "work"." Overall, the book is very well-drawn, the plot isn't anything much, and the book is quite good. And Jill is one hot woman, and she certainly knows how to dress.

So good, it's gotta be Taylor!,
By Dr. Gnome (PR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jill: Part-Time Lover (Paperback)
Once again Kevin Taylor cranks out a masterpiece, and this time with Jill! Jill is a co-ed College girl/clothing store salesgirl who just gets fed up with her regular job and decides she'd do better selling her body for fun and profit. Need I say more? The art is Taylor's signature crude & thick penciled style (with all the cliches, heh) but this time it's in color (and it certainly adds to this story). Sexual encounters are rough and scaldingly explicit, once again pushing the limits of Hardcore graphic art (this book is not for the faint of heart)! Among it's highlights are occasional cameos by several of Taylor's regular characters. If you liked Girl, you'll love Jill: Part-Time Lover (it's just as wild as Girl, at times more-so; but without the distracting plot-devices).

Kevin Taylor introduces a new girl and does it in color,
By A. Sandoc "sussarakhen" (San Pablo, California United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Jill: Part-Time Lover (Paperback)
Jill: The Part-time Lover marks Kevin Taylor's first full-lenght graphic novel that doesn't involve his cult character of "Girl". Jill's made appearances in past anthology issues of both his own publishing and in the Spanish adult comic series, KISS. Except for artbooks, Kevin Taylor's usually worked in just the black and white medium. Even with such simple line art Taylor's work was second to none in the adult comic industry. I would say that with his unique style when it came to drawing his female and male characters, Taylor was one of the more unique and talented artists in the comic industry as a whole. One thing that fans had been waiting for him to do was to finally make that leap into making full-color work. He showed that he could work as well with color as he does with black and white in his artbook, Foreplay. Well, fans were finally rewarded when he released Jill: The Part-Time Lover.
This graphic novel is about a certain college girl named Jill (who also happens to be very good friends with Girl and another of Taylor's characters Blue) who like all college students works alot of hours to pay the bills and rent while trying not fail her classes. Jill has also been using her substantial physical assets and charms to get herself very good grades. In a scene that seems straight out of Penthouse Forum Letters, Jill figures out that she can charge her teachers and strangers for her services. This would solve her cash problems and also allow her to quit her job at a clothing store where her female boss has a definite jealousy issue with our gal Jill. The rest of the book sees our gal pal Jill going from one sexual encounter to the next with each one trying to the top the previous scene. Kevin Taylor doesn't skimp on details when it comes to plotting and framing the sexual sequences. With color now adding a new dimension to his previous excellent use of black and white line art, Taylor has managed to make his work on Jill: The Part-Time Lover even better than his previous ones. This book gives a tantalizing glimpse into what the graphic novels of Girl's future sexual escapades will lookl like. This book is definitely not for prudes and those easily embarrassed. There's nothing thought-provoking about the story and the book in itself. But what Taylor delivers is a down and dirty, and fun look at a girl going about her business the only way she knows how. For fans of Kevin Taylor's past work this is a definite must-buy.

Another winner from Taylor,
By A Customer
This review is from: Jill: Part-Time Lover (Paperback)
Girl is another raunchy tale about a lusty college student that decides to make a profession of her favorite past time. There is even less of an external plot in Jill than there was in Girl. Basically, the book follows Jill from sexual encounter to sexual encounter. The distinct Taylor illustration style has not changed in his new book other than the addition of colour - which is integrated successfully. Some people will not like the thick lines and the physically impossible anatomies - if you are looking for realistic illustrations then von Gotha or Duvet are better bets. However, the crude, exaggerated illustrations match the super hard core story line. If you enjoy stories about beautiful girls that can't get enough satification and have inhuman sexual stamina, the Jill is your dream date. If you are looking for cutting edge art or sophisticated plot then you are better off with a different book.

If you drew a porno movie ...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Jill: Part-Time Lover (Paperback)
This would be it. The plot and action follows the basic porno movie formula. The drawing is great, even if all appendages are extremely over sized. The color really makes it worth getting. I am wishing Kevin did more of "Girl" in color. This will turn you on if you are into adult entertainment. "Girl"'s plot lines are better, but that is not the reason one buys this graphic novel, is it?

Hard core fun,
This review is from: Jill: Part-Time Lover (Paperback)
This work is by the same writer/artist who created Girl. It has hard core pornographic comic book images and story - if that is not your thing, then consider yourself warned. It tells the story of "Jill" a high-priced hooker who usually hooks up with men with large sex organs. The low point, of the last real encounter of the book, takes up too much space. However, most of the other sex scenes are good.

Cartoon erotica done right!,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Jill: Part-Time Lover (Paperback)
I'm not one who is easily impressed by erotica in a static form such as a comic book, but Kevin Taylor's art blew me away! I also purchased one of his "Girl" titles, though the lack of color in that particular book (whereas "Jill" is in full color) made it somewhat less enjoyable. This is a great book that I wish had a sequel... Or maybe it does and I just can't find it. In any case, if you enjoy Taylor's work, this is definitely one to add to your collection!

Perhaps the best...,

This review is from: Jill: Part-Time Lover (Paperback)
I think that this Jill's book is the best published work of its author. Extremelly hard, well drawn and really fun, this compilation of perverted stories happening to a tremendous girl becoming a luxuous prostitute "for the fun" is a true boost for the libido. Enjoy !

Prostitution?,
This review is from: Jill: Part-Time Lover (Paperback)
I'm just curious if/how the book manages to make worthwhile material with a story about a woman nudged into prostitution? I'm not saying it's not possible, but does it manage to do so?
