I recently purchased this CD because I heard that her lyrics, with the help of her husband, were wonderful and I was not disappointed. I buy only CD's where the artists contribute to the writing of some of their music because I find it hard to relate to someone who is not singing from experience. There is something comforting about hearing someone express your own struggles with faith and Jill Phillips does just that. While some of her songs are love songs to God (Everything) others are filled with brutal honesty(Buried Alive and Live By The Sword)). I love hearing artists who are not afraid to express their true feelings. Not to mention that her voice has a lilting quality to it and the guitar work done by her husband and Wayne Kirkpatrick is wonderful. I recommend this CD to anyone that isn't afraid to hear themselves expressed in one of Jill's songs.

I HEARD JILL PHILLIPS' "STEEL BARS" ON THE RADIO, AND LIKED IT SO MUCH I BOUGHT THE CD. THE ENTIRE CD HAS INCREDIBLE LYRICS AND CONTINUALLY INTRIGUING MUSIC. WHAT A TREAT TO GET SO MUCH MORE THAN I WAS EXPECTING. I DON'T USUALLY BUY CHRISTIAN MUSIC PER SE, BUT I CERTAINLY SEE A REASON TO DO SO MUCH MORE OFTEN.

This is one of the few CD's that I've picked up simply by reading a review on here...but I wasn't disappointed. I love today's Christian "poets" (Jennifer Knapp, Bebo Norman, Andrew Petersen), but this one really spoke to me. If you struggle from time to time (and don't we all) with just keeping it together for today, plug in this CD for a little inspiration. I love listening to a CD and here comes a line that you just have to stop and say, "I know what you're talking about, Jill, and I'm glad I'm not the only one!"

If you appreciate talented musicians and need a spiritual boost, plug in the headphones and relax....you will hear something different and deeper every time you listen.

Well, there is soo much to say about this CD, not to mention the artist. She has musical wisdom, and absolute staying power. This singer-songwriter, has vocals, and melodies that are timeless, and can easily carry you away to the part of your soul that you tend to not explore too often. Jill Phillips has the uncanny ability to let her Faith, and her struggles be known in such a "non-preachy" way. - Which for a CCM artist, that is a hard task. The guitar playing of Andy Gullahorn- is and always sounds so effortless, yet beyond human comprehension. He flies over riffs, and soothes the song with chords of divineness. I had the pleasure of studying with Jill at Belmont, and it brings my heart so much joy to call her friend! It is soo refreshing to see honesty, and talent intertwine in the industry. Buying this cd will not only be a treat for your ears, you will discover one of the brightest gems to come by way of CCM.

I stumbled upon Jill Phillips and am so happy I did. Her voice is excellent...so rich and earthy. But more importantly, her lyrics are from the heart and have encouraged me in my walk with the Lord.

I have had this CD about six months and was just playing it again today and just had to write and tell someone how warm and friendly and uplifting it is! I have a lot of CD's and can get tired of them, but not this one...Nice melodies, but more importantly, her sincere love for God shines thru!

This girl is something else! If you like acoustic guitar, gutsy but elegant vocals, top-notch aurally stimulating production, and super-glue lyrics and melodys that stick in your mind, this CD is what you are looking for. If I were Word Records, I would offer a "satisfaction guaranteed or your money back" sales pitch for this one -- without fear of losing a penny. There's not even a mediocre cut on this CD. Every song is an absolute gem, polished to as near perfection as human beings can achieve!

I bought this CD because I saw Wayne Kirkpatrick's name on it and came away with a new favorite. This girl is a fantastic singer and songwriter and I guess that's her husband writing the other songs- he's great, too..."Drytown" is a wonderful song...I sincerely hope this CD is found by more people like me who didn't know what they were in for and came away very pleased...

Jill Phillips is actually my singing lesson teacher. I get to enjoy her presense time and time again. I recently came across some of her amazing work online and having listened to it, I feel that she has an amazing talent which she has never shown me. Not just her voice either, but talented enough to write her own music along with the help of others. She definately expresses herself well and has a unique voice like no others. I am proud to have her as a singing teacher and this album is truely beautiful.

what an all knowing God we have. I traveled to the record store, because I was intrigued and loved the lyric..."all I ever get is a meal and 4 walls" and came home with a treasure. God has used music to comfort me all my life, and the CD by Ms. Phillips is just another blanket on my bed. "I am" helped me cry many necessary tears over the weekend. From track 1 to track 10.....solid talent, solid vertical focus. I will wear this CD out. Thank you Ms. Phillips..my sister in Christ for using His gift the way you have. It is incredible the way He speaks through His children, for His children....all for His glory.
