1.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating Fitness Game Ever October 23, 2008
By Jessica
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I just got it today and played for only 1hr so far, so may be it's more to this game, but personally, I think it's awful. If I were Jillian Michaels, I wouldn't want my name on this game.

Graphic is super bad with ugly avators you can't customize the detail. Feels like going back to Super Nintendo or Play Station era. However it's Wii, it's fitness game- I can let go of graphics if game content is good...which isn't.

Ok, where should I start??? (seriously it's that bad)

Noticable flaw for me was slow controller response time. I could be swinging my controller and nunchuck now and my character will be responding 2 seconds later. Also for some exercise, it's really hard to figure out how to get the character moving because of poor instruction + just badly designed control.

Some mini games sort of resemble Wii Fit but it's more like Wii Fit wannabe. For example, this game's version of "Running" is if you use balance board, you are just "shifting" weight on the board and swing arms with controllers because you are not supposed to actually run on the board. And for Wii Fit owners, remember how pretty the background scenary was and kept changing as you ran? In this game, you are just running through 1 long boring path between trees...

Another "boring" factor is it doesn't have much of game quality unless you are in multiplayer mode. Sure it'll show you the score after the exercise at the end of game but while you are playing solo, it's really not motivating. You just hear Jillian's occasional "Give it all you got!" over and over.

Some good points are background musics- they are good up-beat songs with more variety than Wii Fit, and also some squat exercise did make me sweat.

Overall, I'm sure it'll keep burning your calories if you play this game everyday but it's so BORING and FRUSTRATING, I'm not sure if anybody could keep playing this long term.

So unless you are like me who just wanted to try out this new fitness game casually, don't bother, stick with Wii Fit.

I'll be selling mine soon.

1.0 out of 5 stars SERIOUSLY DISAPPOINTED!!!! October 23, 2008
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I was so pumped about a new Wii fit game because I love the Wii fit. I opened the game and started to play and was VERY Disappointed. First off when trying to customize the clothing on my fitness person the colors don't change to the color is shows it is supposed to be. If I chose pink it looks yellow. The graphics are really bad, and like the previous email said back in the old video game days. I started off with the training mode which is running and I could not get my remotes to hardly respond it is like the game is playing by itself. My balance and motion just did not seem to respond till a few second later. I really wanted to like this game because I love fitness. When your are running you are on the balance board and when you go faster your person on the screen continues to barely move. If you have to quit for some reason in the middle, mine was because I was bored, but if you try to quit you have to wait until your 2-5 MInute + run is over before you can return to choose another training mode.

There is an area where you jump on logs and it just looks like your standing in one place and you can't jump from log to log you just basically stand there until the 2 minutes are up.

Throwing granades were bad because the game tells you lean left and right to hit the target and when you lean left to right it does nothing.

It does give some good advice as you earn tips. The entire game responses are all positive and when you are trying to get a good workout you need motivation but sometimes not all positive. Even if you don't do a good job it says oh good job....

My kids even tried the game and were very frustrated age 14 and 4 because the game would not respond at all to my four year old. My 4-yr old loves Wii fit but this game you have to be heavy enough to bend down and touch the board to throw grenades on that particular exercise. I had to stand there with him and add weight to the board each time he bent over so he could do the toe touch. He lost interest very quickly and so did I.

There is a new device out that makes your wii board more sensitive but I am not sure even with that I could recommend this game. I just can't believe how bad the graphics were. I guess I can live with the graphics and will try to play a few more times after getting the new device that makes the board more sensitive but I was just really disappointed about this game. Sorry, Jullian but I see this on the discount rack really quick.

1.0 out of 5 stars It's a game not a fitness program October 23, 2008
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
Ever since I bought Wii fit I was anxiously awaiting a complementary program. Wii Fit is great but we all know its huge flaws. So when I found out Jillian Michaels was coming out with a balance board game I thought great, a fitness buff should bring a fresh perspective.

Well, in a nut shell what was created was not a fitness program that you can build a lifestyle around but more like a game that you can play for a few weeks and then move on to something else. The Big three as I call them (Yourself Fitness, Let's Yoga, and Wii Fit) can be incorporated into a fitness lifestyle on pretty much a daily basis. No so with Fitness Ultimatum

So just where does this game fail as far as an exercise program? For one thing, in this game you are mostly not doing the on screen exercise but doing some kind of physical gyration to get your on screen avatar to do the screen action. For example running on screen is done by alternating heel lifts and swinging your arms. In boxing in order to get permission to throw a punch on the bag your hips have to be swaying to the music.

Oh, and the music. Have these game designers ever been in a gym? I feel like I'm listening to some-one's Ipod shuffle mix. Exercise music is supposed to drive you to working out, not someones idea of good tunes. In one paint ball hand grenade activity I was throwing paint ball grenades to country western music. What???????

The game does work without the balance board. I found that out today becasue the balance board game sync menu is not user friendly, the controls are too sensitive and you don't get enough time. Thus I failed the balance board sync test and went without the balance board today

And finally the game has no exit. Once you get back to the opening flash screen the program dead ends. Yesterday the game crashed my Wii so I had to unplug to take out the disk. Today after I got to the flash screen, I ejected the disk and inserted Wii Fit. After a couple seconds of the disk turning, I got a screen message that said please insert Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009.

Jillian would have done much better to turn one of her own DVDs into a Wii Fit game.

Not what I expected. Thought that it would be better considering it's a Jillian Michaels type game. On the plus side it was cheap.

Do not recommend it. The game doesn't really read your movements the way it's supposed to, and the activities themselves are boring and pretty much useless.

I feel exactly as the rest of you. In fact, I found your comments while searching for a better solution to the basic step routines that come with wii fit.
