Heather MacAllister has a knack for difficult heroes - but in other books I read by her they also have a few redeeming qualities and at the end we can at least believe they are truly in love with their ladies.

That is not the case here. The so called hero is an insensitive, self-centered jerk; at the beginning of the story he seems incapable of loving anyone, and by the end I did not believe there was any change at all. That been said I have to address the fact the so called heroine spent years working for the abovementioned jerk, married him, was discarded in a quick Mexican divorce, and still kept her place as a loyal "friend" and "associate", all the while pinning for him and ready to jump at the chance to relive the good old times - even while he was getting ready to marry another woman. What a sad doormat.

Ironically I got to the end of the story liking more the other woman - the one the so called heroine was trying to save the so called hero from... I hope later on she was able to find a better man for herself!
