5.0 out of 5 stars Happy with my Bradley.
I love my BDS, I was not to keen on getting the Jim Beam model, cause I am not a Bouban man but at $75 less than the standerd BDS I will peel off the Decal! I have a great deal of experience with electric, charcoal and real wood trailer type smokers. They all have their advantages and disadvantages. I have read quite a few "horror stories" about not holding temp. taking...

3.0 out of 5 stars Biscuits failing to advance at times (motor malfunction)
For the first month this was a great smoker, but as mentioned in a number of the other reviews the motor that advances the biscuits failed after the first month ruining six fillets of red salmon. I contacted Bradley and they quickly sent me a new motor to install. The motor then ran well again for another month and today again ruined six more fillets of red salmon...

I have read quite a few "horror stories" about not holding temp. taking forever to smoke/cook meat, bad manufacturing, etc. I personally have not experienced any of these problems. Mine holds the temp. in an "average" desired area. You can apply as little or as much smoke to your food as you want (awesome)and you can actually go about your business throughout your day or even do larger cuts overnight if you want too without having to start/add more charcoal or split/throw wood in the fire box. Does it take 8-10 hours to smoke a brisket or whole pork shoulder? Yeah it does, its not a micro-wave welcome to the world of Low and Slow BBQ cooking. Is it the perfect "smoking unit"? No absolutely not, does it produce hands off, worry free smoked food in a timely/convinient/efficient manner? I think it does and I would recommend it to anyone.

This is an awesome smoker! I've done several briskets, turkey breats, chickens, pork butts and they have all turned out great! My only suggestion would be to also buy a good digital meat thermometer so you can keep track of the internal temp of the meat you're smoking.

Best smoker for the money, but don't expect to cold smoke unless it's cold out (30F or lower) or you build / buy an attachment that gets the smoke generator out of the smoking cabinet. The attachment is available from the company for a $100 up-charge. A bit disappointing considering the advertising claims. The wood is a bit expensive, but not too bad.

The motor then ran well again for another month and today again ruined six more fillets of red salmon because the biscuits were not advancing.

When this smoker does work it turns out a great quality product. I don't use the heating element because the element the biscuits sit on keep the smoker between 120 and 140 degrees without a problem. Aside from the biscuits failing to advance at times this is a good product.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Good & the Bad, October 17, 2010

This review is from: Jim Beam BTDS76JB Bradley Smoker 4-Rack Digital Outdoor Smoker (Lawn & Patio)
I am someone who researches an item extensively prior to making a purchase. I have wanted to get into smoking, and upon much research, settled on the Bradley digital 4 rack smoker. I received the smoker on 9/22/10. Set-up was very easy, and I "seasoned" it for approximately 1.5 hrs. The next day, I put it to use on a couple racks of ribs (I'll omit the details/process of smoking the ribs). I will focus on the performance of the Bradley smoker, saying that for the first (2) uses, the smoker worked as advertised: digital temperature read out was accurate as verified with an internal temp. probe, smoke produced was excellent, and good products exited the door! Now, with the 3rd use, the smoke generator quits working. I discover that one of the cords has a loose connection, and if I giggle it, the smoke generator will work. I was able to tape it so it would work, as I had salmon filets ready to go in! On this go around, I also discovered that the smoker would not get up to temperature. I have it set at 250 and it will not get over 115. Salmon is in jeopardy. I contacted Amazon (on a Sunday evening), and they are promptly sending out a replacement that I will have on Tuesday. I am very pleased with the customer support of Amazon, and my only hopes are that this smoker will live up to the other reviews I've read. If this product can remain durable, it is definitely a 5-star rating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smokin' smoker, January 2, 2012
This review is from: Jim Beam BTDS76JB Bradley Smoker 4-Rack Digital Outdoor Smoker (Lawn & Patio)
This smoker does everything that it claims to. The packets to flavor the smoke are great. Worked perfectly right out of the box. Assembly was quick and easy. We smoked a checken and plan on doing a pork butt next!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars peice of junk, November 19, 2011
This review is from: Jim Beam BTDS76JB Bradley Smoker 4-Rack Digital Outdoor Smoker (Lawn & Patio)
I bought two of these Bradley smokers. One for me and one as a gift to my brother. Both broke right away. The door hinges broke on mine and the door fell off while smoking a turkey. The heating elements on both of ours failed, mine while smoking a prime rib. The motors failed in both units. The company has been just okay in replacing these parts after some time. I don't trust this smoker. It is another cheap thing made in China. Don't buy this.
