Jim Beam's stamp of quality is now proudly displayed on each bag of our Jim Beam Original Sunflower Seeds - and for good reason. Born across America's great lands, our premium U.S.A.-grown seeds are carefully selected, marinated in genuine Jim Beam Kentucky Straight Bourbon, and roasted to absolute, mouth watering perfection.
I always hated sunflower seeds as a kid, and that transferred into adulthood. It wasn't until I was having problems staying awake while driving that I pulled into a convenience store/gas station looking for something to wake me up. I figured sunflower seeds might do the trick, so I surveyed the limited selection. The "Jim Beam" name grabbed my attention, and I bought my first bag of these.
Since, I've probably consumed hundreds of bags of Jim Beam Original Recipe Sunflower Seeds.
Pros: + Size: They seem to be larger than other brands of seeds, which make them more enjoyable to eat. + Flavor: These seeds taste delicious and manage to circumvent that salty taste that many other sunflower seeds have. + Price: If you get these through Amazon, they cost just a little bit more than other brands and taste way better. + Packaging: Seeds now come in a resealable bag, making these very handy for travel and decreasing the chance of spills.
Cons: - Price: When BIGS redid the packaging on these to include the zipseal at the top, they also raised the price by about $.25/bag. I still think these seeds are priced well, but price-hikes are always a negative to a repeat customer. - Quality Control: In nearly every bag, I find some sort of non-sunflower seed. Most annoying to me are the stems. Most stems are about 2" in length and taste like salt; I've yet to figure out how these things don't get filtered out. However, when I gave a bag of these to my brother-in-law, he said those stems were his favorite part (to each his own, I guess). Other flaws include small, seed-sized chunks that masquerade as seeds, but when you taste them, they're either super-sweet or horribly salty/briney.Read more ›
