Grade 5-10-This is a captivating, exciting biography of the controversial frontiersman who was involved in prospecting and land speculation, as well as slave smuggling, and who died at the Alamo. The account is full of lively Texas history, although some readers may find the many names, events, and details confusing. The extensive time line will help them sort things out. Numerous black-and-white and color illustrations and documents complement the text. Students will use this attractive book for reports and general reading.
