Rhythmic Foundation is just as much about learning to play music with other people as it is about African Drumming. The content of the DVD caters to beginners with the hopes of giving them a true foundation in understanding how rhythm works, basic djembe, djun-djun and bell technique and how they can actively participate with others in drumming. Jim uses simple traditional songs from West and Central Africa because of their effectiveness in helping students learn these basic concepts.
For the beginning drummer, lifelong player, teacher, or music enthusiast, this DVD is for you! Over 2 hours of enjoyable, easy to follow step-by-step play-along lessons.

"As a long-time music teacher of drumming and world music, I have to say that Rhythmic Foundation is the best instructional/play-along resource that I have ever experienced! ...Jim is a master teacher with a unique talent for demonstrating technique, dexterity, coordination, and how to get the best sound out of your drum. The dual visual perspectives (straight on and a bird's eye view) are invaluable. This DVD will enable you to significantly improve your playing, regardless of your level of experience."
