i've been using it for some time, and getting use to it. This is the real stuff, don't go over the internet trying to build one, this is the true talk box, and that's the reason why the greatest guitar players use this one, if you're searching this effect, this is the one, just got to follow the instrucctions carefully. I never tested the rocktron banshee, that appears to be good, but the HT1 is just that. THE REAL STUFF. D O T!

My band closed many sets with "Do you Feel Like We Do" (The whole 14 minutes of it). I memorized enough Frampton riffs to make people believe I knew the whole thing note for note. I guess drunk people are easily fooled. I think the main reason they were impressed is that when I pressed the little button on the box, they heard the exact same tone as Peter Frampton's. Whether the show was good, bad, or average, that song always was the highlight. As soon as I mouthed the 1st few notes of the solo, I would look around and almost everyone was staring in amazement. A girl actually once said "I know what the tube is for, but where do you keep the beer?" Anyway, back to the box: It's built like a tank! I stored it in a friends basement, his cat filled the box it was in with urine. After replacing the tube (YUCK), it still works great. The bottom of the box is now rusty but the thing keeps going like the Energizer Bunny. For those who complain about how it's hooked up I say This is a big boy toy designed to be played through a Marshall stack, not a cheap combo amp. If you just have to use it with a combo, it's simple enough to wire. Any knock off that doesn't get inserted between the head and the speaker will not sound like the original. This pedal will get you more complements and save more bad or average gigs than any other you can buy (assuming that you have some chops).

I was really hoping to open the box, plug in my guitar, and get started making Frampton and Daft Punk sounds. I was not so lucky. What the description doesn't tell you is that in order for this talkbox to work at all, you need a speaker head and cabinet, as the HT-1 lacks a built-in pre-amp. This, understandably, ruined my day. I assumed at most I would need an instrument and maybe a small amp. There are other talkboxes out there, like the Rocktron Banshee, that has a built in pre-amp, meaning all you need to use it is an instrument and speaker cable. I now have an HT-1 that I can't use and, because of whatever reason (the distributor won't respond to my refund request), can't refund... A great waste of no small amount of change. Don't go for this one unless you have all the other gear it'll require to use.

My wife bought this for me at Christmas last year. I use it often and it is great! I had wanted one for years and this was the perfect one for me.
