The 2nd Part of the series is finally here. And it's even better than the first part. Many "mistakes" of the first book have been eliminated. For example, the unrelated stories have been deleted. Here is an exciting, gripping story from beginning to end. Many questions will be answered at last, and in a logical manner. For fans of the film a real revelation! (However it has some story differences from the WORLD OF THE DARK CRYSTAL book.)

It surpasses the first volume in further points: Brian Froud's extensive Skeksis + Mystic concepts and David Odell's highly informative afterword with some rare photos.

This time the cover is in a glossy print that feels a lot better than the rough cover of the first book.

The drawings and colors are very good, though sometimes lacking in detail (for example, the Skeksis and Mystics look quite rough). I find disturbing in some images, the dotted outline of some characters. But overall the graphics and compositions are great!

Conclusion: For fans of the film and fantasy fans in general, this book is an absolute must!

This volume continues the story of the Dark Crystal. Compared to Volume 1, it's much more focused on a Gelfling, Gyr, a musician who has heard the music of the UrSkeks. More importantly, we actually see the fateful moment when the Dark Crystal splinters and the UrSkeks are divided by two. I thought the way this happened worked really well. It was subtle and fit into the world of Dark Crystal.

As with the first volume, the art is beautiful. Brilliant, bright colors. The book is a hardcover volume and well made.

Recommended for fans of the Dark Crystal movie.

I am so glad to see Froud building the world he and Jim Henson created. The art is amazing and the story has the same depth and beauty as the original film.

Hear ye, hear ye, people who cannot get enough of The Dark Crystal, this one is for you! Full of back story and the past of the planet, this graphic novel fills in a few of the knowledge gaps that the movie left behind. A sweeping story and awesome artwork are interesting, and the storyline is pretty good. If you liked the world design in the The Dark Crystal, you'll want to at least look through this book. I loved the intricate details and drawings, and it was just so much fun to revisit Thra and learn more about the planet. I'm also a huge gelfling fan, so I was very happy to see them featured in this book. Raunip sort of weirds me out, but I still think he's a well-designed character and definitely necessary for the story. Thank you, Netgalley and Archaia Entertainment, LLC for letting me read a galley of this book!

I have never read a better prequel. The creation myths of Thra rival any of those on Earth and the illustrations are just as good.
