This DVD is priceless. If you never have to opportunity to attend one of Jim Kelly's classes, this DVD is the next best thing. Kelly's talent is clearly evident within minutes of pressing play. By combining a variety of different techniques from several great players, I was able to increase and improve my own techniques. The interactive song lessons made me feel as if I was playing along side Kelly. This DVD is a must-have for all guitarists.

I have more than 20 guitar instruction videos, from various genres. Non of them presented material in a way that keeps you wanting to practice again and again and when you do that you learn some thing new every time like this video session from jim kelly. It introduce you to a few Jazzy/Blues to Rock type songs, but important thing here is each song captures one whole sub-genres in a very academic manner not only in theoretical sense, but in a playing technique and feel wise too. Unlike many instruction videos, this video has a feel that you are with a teacher in real time.
Only minus point is the booklet, it does not give you a kind of full transcription of the songs, but very basic lead sheet. But this is not few songs that you want to learn note for note and be done with it. You should try to play them as you see/hear how Jim plays and every time you learn some thing new.
Jim Kelly will become your guitar teacher for your life even with this one hour session. This is a hidden gem.

This DVD is a great one for the advanced guitarist. Being an intermediate guitar player myself, I would have wanted to know that it was really advanced stuff. There are a few things that would be good to know before purchasing this DVD. You have to have a fairly good understanding of theory, scales, arpeggios and advanced chords.

Jim Kelly however has a lot of good ideas along the way that are very beneficial for guitarists at all levels. Jim is a great player which he shows frequently throughout the DVD, maybe sometimes a little too frequently.
But for the advanced guitarist, this is a great DVD, a lot of cool songs in a lot of styles.
