Jim Makichuk grew up in a small town in the Canadian west. In his early 20's he found his dream job of working in television, a career that took him across both Canada and the U.S. working as a newswriter, film cameraman,producer and director. He made his first feature-length movie, Ghostkeeper, in 1980. Jim moved to Los Angeles in 1990 and has worked on dozens of films as a screenwriter with 18 produced movies and 30 hours of episodic television. Emperor of Mars is based partially on his early years and a true-life event relating to Mars that actually occurred. Emperor of Mars is his first novel.
