5.0 out of 5 stars Best Band EVER, August 22, 2005
I first found 15-60-75 the Numbers Band in Kent, Ohio in 1978. After much begging, whining and outright stalking, band member Bob Kidney broke down and GAVE me an original copy of "Jimmy Bell's Still in Town," back when it was just an LP. I played the thing until it disintegrated.

This band defied labelling, which is why they are not superstars. It is CERTAINLY not because they aren't wonderful. They take the blues, and some underground jazz/punk/bluegrass/R&B and turn it into the most inescapably addictive, sedcutive noise you can possibly imagine. The opneing riff to the title track slides you down the lonely train into a blues cafe, full of smoke and gospel singers come down low for the cheap booze and ecstatic wanderings of the Singer. Terry Hynde's horn playing just wraps around your forebrain and you are moving to the nasty bass before you even know you got up off your chair. Mike Stacey's lead guitar is the cry of hungry wolves who are only stopped from devouring you by the sound of the drums and the rythym in the night. You are HOOKED. You must never let this music out of your head.

By the time you GET through to "Animal Speaks," you have booked a flight to Cleveland, Ohio and sold all your worldly possessions JUST to get to hear this band play every night.

Buy everything you can find that they ever record.

See you in the dark...

Vicky E, Casselberry FL

5.0 out of 5 stars Proto-punk Blues?!, November 14, 2004
Yes, proto-punk blues, recorded live in Cleveland, Ohio, 1975. Vibrant rock & squonk. Post-modern blues from a brief moment balanced between the sprawling electric psychedelic jams of the late '60's, and the period when 'the blues' was saved (and ruined) by The Blues Brothers & several American beer advertisers starting in the late '70's. Fresh and remarkable, with whiffs of eclectic avant/underground influences, and plenty of punk sensibility. It makes perfect sense that they came up in the same scene that also spawned Pere Ubu. A great cd, & highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars rare great live lp, May 29, 2009
By M. SMITH "tiny" (Music Heaven) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This album sounds similar to Television's Marquee Moon in that songs appear built around a solid drum foundation (David Robinson). Great songs; subtle, but effective guitar and horns. The inspiration for some of the Cleveland, Ohio sound in the late 70's/early 80's (AMG bio tells you all you need to know). Narrative lyrics with an edge. I wish 70's era music was all this good.
