Unique, interesting, haunting,

I stumbled on this album when looking for recorded material by Gillian Welch and David Rawlings (having heard everything else they've recorded), and boy was this a surprise! This is what international music is all about - beautiful, haunting tunes, many of them instrumentals, by Djamel Ben Yelles, Florent Prabel, Amir ElSaffar and of course the inimitable Gillian Welch and David Rawlings.A surprising and very satisfying experience. If you like lyrical roots music with a decidedly middle Eastern flair, this is the collection for you. Am looking forward to seeing the movie now!

A thoughtful, compelling, can't-interrupt-even-to-go-to-the-bathroom film with a soundtrack so good that I bought the soundtrack cd. If you are interested in Jimmy Carter at all, or the Israel/Palestine situation, or excellent music, this is a must.
