4.0 out of 5 stars A preview to the full-length DVD...
This DVD was released as a preview to the upcoming full-length DVD (Believe In What You Want) coming out Feb. 2003. What you get are three full-length music videos, one live concert performance, three live songs (audio only), and a unique rendition of Wham! (George Michael)'s "Last Christmas". Overall, this is still a good buy. The live songs are from the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not up to par with the show it was filmed at. I know.
I love Jimmy Eat World with a passion. These guys are incredible. I waited for this video for several months, even though i knew it was just an EP preview to the full video. I have to say that I was pretty dissappointed. I was at the show that they filmed the DVD at, and it was the best Jimmy show I have ever seen (out of 6). But this video makes it look like the...

The live songs are from the full-length DVD and are suppose to get you (the buyer) interested enough to buy the DVD! Are the live performances good? For the most part, yes. I know I'll be buying BIWYW when it comes out! Anyway, here's the content of the preview DVD:

Music videos:
Bleed American (Salt, Sweat, Sugar)
The Middle
Sweetness (worth watching again and again!)

Live performance:
Get It Faster

Live songs (audio only):
The Authority Song
Bleed American
For Me This Is Heaven

Cover song:
Last Christmas (originally performed by Wham! (George Michael))

So get it at least for the music videos and "Last Christmas"!

But this video makes it look like the show blew. They only show one performance, and im proud to say you can see me in the crowd, but the problem is that the sound .... There is not enough bass, which leaves you with only the sound of Toms guitar and distorts the song.

I would wait for the full length video to come out and pass this one up. And keep in mind if you do get this, that Jimmy Eat World sounds MUCH better live than they seem in this video.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth checking out for any fan, January 2, 2003
This review is from: Jimmy Eat World (DVD)
Although not a full-length DVD, the JimmyEatWorld DVD EP delivers more than enough bang for your buck. The DVD sells for less than ten dollars at most places and includes 3 music videos, all coming from their latest and most successful album "Bleed American" (aka "self-titled," changed after September 11th). "The Middle" is a pretty good video, even if it's been played about a million times and the song is just a little more than annoying by now. "Bleed American" is an excellent performance video and is the first video from the album. "Sweetness" is the latest video, and probably the best of the three. It's a performance video combined with some trippy graphics and odd images. The live video "Get It Faster" comes from the full-length DVD which comes out later this year (you might have seen this performance air on MTV last summer). The audio section is nice, although I wish they could come up with a way so that you could listen to it like a CD. You get live versions of "For Me This Is Heaven," "Bleed American," and "Authority Song." And as if that's not enough, you also get a cover of Wham's "Last Christmas." All in all, if you are a JimmyEatWorld fan, you should definetly pick this up. It is definetly worth the money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Whatever., December 31, 2002

First things first: Jimmy Eat World is one of the best bands on the planet, but this DVD is lame. It has the videos, but I've seen the videos on television. The performance of Get It Faster isn't really all that good at all. I've seen them play that song live twice and both times it was better than this one by a long shot. Given, Bleed American is not even worthy to be gauged on the same scale as Clarity, but even then, this thing isn't worth the 8 bucks you'll pay unless you're a stupid new fan who hasn't bothered to buy the older stuff. It's good to see that Jimmy Eat World hasn't lost it, as they've been playing more Clarity than anything else live lately and they aren't pleasing the 13 year old girls who want to hear The Middle over and over. Tom and Jim both looked totally bored playing it. Either way, for the real fans, the only incentive is the live audio-only of For Me This Is Heaven just because it's the best song ever. Don't buy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars High recommended, September 21, 2004

How anyone can say they were disappointed in this DVD EP is beyond me. It's live footage from two shows at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. It brings you the Jimmy Eat World live experience. You can feel the energy of the band and the excitement of the fans. It's an incredibly well done video. My friends and I have gone to many Jimmy shows and this video captures Jimmy Eat World live in its truest form. Yes, it did leave me wanting more -- which is the purpose of a good EP. If you were upset/angry that there wasn't more -- didn't the video serve its purpose in giving you a little taste; a "teaser", if you will? I highly recommend this DVD with reservation. Enjoy!

I liked it but I got a little bored. I always enjoy watching band DVDs though so I don't regret buying.

this dvd is alright. If you check this DVD out, it announces that the "full" length DVD will be out in February 2003. Its now July and there is still no full length dvd. I mean i know they're working on they're 5th LP. But at least give us something while we wait.

4.0 out of 5 stars an ok buy for a fan, January 14, 2003
This review is from: Jimmy Eat World (DVD)
the dvd was a great "single" and a teaser for the full length dvd "believe in what you want" that supposedly comes out in february of 2003. it wasn't worth the searching that i personally had to go through. if you are a big fan of jimmy eat world, i'd get it. a collecters item for all you collecters and a great filler if you have nothing else to do for about 15 minutes. i enjoyed it...but i wished the audio would've been live footage. i got bored just looking at my blank dvd screen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Their best stuff on " Jimmy Eat World / DVD EP.", July 16, 2003

This review is from: Jimmy Eat World (DVD)
This DVD EP, is a sampler of Jimmy Eat World's smash hit music-videos: 1."Bleed American" 2. "The Middle" 3. "Sweetness" 4. "Get It Faster." It also contains some audio-clips: 5."The Authority Song"(Live) 6. "Bleed American(Live) 7. "For Me This Is Heaven"(Live) 8. "Last Christmas" 9. Preview of the upcoming full-length DVD - "Believe In What You Want." Approximate Running Time: 32:09

This DVD along with some killer music-videos, is a "must-have" for any hard-core J.E.W. fan out there. I must've watched this DVD 50 times...I love it! In "The Middle" video portion, it shows a little debauchery going on at this house party, with some beautiful people (the college crowd) prancing around in their skivies. (I've never been to one before...poor me. If I ever got the chance, I'd go in a heartbeat. Actually, I've been working-out all this time trying to get in shape for something like this. LOL!) They're all having a good time hanging-out with friends, while drinking some booze. It's where there's plenty of kissing going around inside - with the masses swimming in the pool outside. It's like one huge beach party. The girls in it are so HOT! (They make my temperature rise.) Anyway, if you're in for having a good time with your friends, I'd highy recommend this.
