This book is a WINNER!!! As you read the book to Jingles, the cute little stuffed husky, at various voice activated points in the book Jingles responds by barking, singing, whimpering or whining. A great gift idea for any little kid who wants a puppy but might be too young to have one. What a wonderful way to get your young child interested in reading and a way to create priceless memories. Jingles is cuddly too!

This is the story of an adorable pup named Jingle who does not have a home. He hangs out near Pineville Elementary School. Suddenly the boys and girls disappear; everyplace appears deserted. Christmas break is about to begin. Sadly, Jingle falls asleep. Soon he is awakened by a most pleasant surprise visitor who changes his life forever.

The art work in this book is excellent. Unfortunately, the story text has many repetitive sentences that begin with the words but and and...not a stunning example of proper sentence structure. Also, the book is advertised as interactive. It is not made clear that one has to purchase the stuffed bear at Hallmark in order to hear the various responses of the dog when the text is read.

Jingle is absolutely one of the cutest ideas I have seen in a while. You read the story and certain phrases cause Jingle to respond. This gift is perfect for kids IF the parent reads the story, but if like me you are encouraging a beginning reader, be warned.

Everything was as planned at first, my son didnt want me to read or help at all (the intent), then came the first phrase. Read in the voice of a first grader....no Jingle....Daddy reads the line and Jingle responds. By halfway through the book, we have full blown tears and a request that Mommy take Jingle back to the store cause he is mean and won't listen to my son.

The situation was averted by pointing out that Jingle was made by a silly grownup and programmed by a silly grown up who obviously didn't consider that kids and grown ups sound different. I pointed out that we should feel sorry for Jingle because on Christmas morning millions of kids were gonna be mad at him all because of that silly grown up. Jingle is now loved and accepted, but only if I promised we wouldnt pull the book out again and that I write a letter complaining about the silly grown up. So here is the letter, and to all of you Jingle buying parents, I hope your experience is better than ours, but be prepared if it isnt.

I really like this little gem. It is odd that as an adult I really enjoyed this little gem more than a lot of adult books I have read lately.

I would've enjoyed the book more if copy didn't refer to the sounds it would make. Now I learned that you can purchase this book with a DVD for that purpose. So this book is offered free in order to introduce you to other media associated with it, even a toy. That's fine with me--just correct the copy in the free book so it doesn't give that impression.

This book is precious by itself, with the cutest artwork and a tender, moving but simple storyline. The story teaches the value of having a home, and being able to offer a home to others less fortunate. I like the simple verse, non-rhyming which is good too. And the ending--what a beginning for Christmas joy without bounds! If an adult reads this book to a child with animation, and gets the child involved, it would be a most precious experience for the holidays.

Jingle All the Way by author Tom Shay-Zapien is a sweet story that claims to be interactive. I am not sure what that means but I could not get Jingle to "interact" when reading the story on my Apple iPad. I did read a sweet story about a dog named Jingle who loved kids. I won't write more as that would give away the story.

I will write the graphics, or images, are lovely but they could have been laid out better. They may look fine in a print book but the images are a bit lacking when shown in an e-Book such as the Kindle.

Recommend with caveats given.

The concept is excellent. The artwork is fabulous and the stuffed dog is really just too cute. We have read this book every night since Christmas (when my daughter received it). As the child of a college English professor I am a bit of a stickler for grammar, especially things that should be obvious! Tom Shay-Zapien begins half the sentences in this book with the word "but" and the other half with the word "and". It drives me crazy to read it!!! There are extremely short sentences that begin with but or and, and then there are run on sentences that go on forever. My point is, Hallmark could have found a better writer. I'll wrap it up by saying great concept, poor execution. This won't stop me from reading this book every night for some time because it's certainly a hit with my 2 year old!

Jingle is a fixture year round in our home. It's easy to understand why if your child is fond of puppies and unique toys.
I purchased Jingle just before the holidays and gave it to my daughter the day after Thanksgiving. I wanted her to have it for the entire season. I think this toy would be a great Christmas gift, because it coincides with the storybook, but I think it makes for a great winter season toy and cuddle friend on Christmas Eve and the days leading up.
Jingle has a price tag, and I would buy early because it gets a bit higher as the season approaches.

Ages I would recommend this for?-3-5.

Pros-
Jingle is pretty soft, although his body is stiff due to its interactive technology going on internally.
So cute, I would have wanted one as a child.
The book is really cute, and you can buy additional titles.
The sounds are clear and I've never had it glitch before.

Cons-
Pricey
Cannot be washed so little ones who have accidents should keep Jingle off the bed.
It responds to adults voice over high pitched child's voice. This was the biggest con. My daughter would say the book cues and Jingle would not respond, though every time I read the cues he replied correctly, this can be hard for kids and result in a red faced tot screaming at a stuffed animal.
