5.0 out of 5 stars Great traditional christmas cd
This cd, from the 1950`s (I believe), is a great traditional country christmas cd that, even though I don`t like country music, works because of it`s traditional and christmassy style - plus Bobby Helms' voice is great - it really sounds like one of those old christmas voices (Gene Autry comes to thought). Many great songs as well such as his classic JINGLE BELL ROCK...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad - but not the original classic...
Bobby Helms, of course, recorded the all-time Christmas classic, "Jingle Bell Rock," for Decca Records in 1957 (b/w "Captain Santa Claus") and he released another version on Kapp Records in 1965 (b/w "The Bell That Couldn't Jingle"). But, he never recorded a Christmas album for either of those labels.

Many great songs as well such as his classic JINGLE BELL ROCK (which is not the better recording you'll usually find on the compilations - but still good anyways), SILVER BELLS, WINTER WONDERLAND, as well as one of my favorite versions of both JINGLE BELLS and I SAW MOMMY KISSING SANTA CLAUS. And all the other songs are great as well. Even if you don't like country, you`ll probably like this for it`s old traditional christmas style. Recommended.

This is a great Christmas CD. It has all of the best known favorite Holiday songs like White Christmas, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Jingle Bells, etc. Children and adults know and enjoy these songs. Bobby Helms is a Christmas Legend...how could it not be Great? We love it and play it a lot every Christmas.

But, he never recorded a Christmas album for either of those labels.

These recordings were made in 1967 for the short-lived Little Darlin' label. They're not bad at all - definitely more country-sounding than his earlier records (e.g. 'Fraulein') - but be aware that they do not include the original 'Jingle Bell Rock' hit single.

Other than yet another 'Jingle Bell Rock' single in 1967 (b/w 'I Want To Go To Santa Claus Land'), Little Darlin' never released these recordings. However, the tracks have been issued repeatedly by other (mostly budget) labels, most notably as 'A Little Darlin' Christmas' (Koch, 2004). Virtually every Christmas album bearing Helms' name (Amazon lists more than a dozen) consists of the Little Darlin' sessions - including this one originally released by Mistletoe Records in 1974.

What else can I say. Bobby Helms is terrific. His voice is marvelous. His Christmas album is by far the best album, or I had the 8 track and wore it out, ever.

1.0 out of 5 stars "Jingle Bell Rock". Bobby Helms, December 23, 1999

Sir's, Being that i'am a dedicated consumer, i want to know why your advertising and selling another version (he must've resung it) of "Jingle Bell Rock". As your aware of...from my past purchases, i value the original Recordings. In fact, i have all 45 & 78 recordings of old rock since 1954. I have the original 45rpm. "Jingle Bell Rock". I would not purchase CD's that's not the orininal recording, when Bobby Helms recorded it in the studio. If you want to hear his original "Jingle Bell Rock", i can send you a REALPLAYER Audio recording of his hit song. I WANT TO KNOW WHY YOUR SELLING A RESUNG MAKE OF HIS HIT SONG? EVEIDENTLY, HE TRIED TO MAKE A COMEBACK BY RESINGING HIS HIT SONG. TO LET YOU KNOW....... IT'S TERRIBLE. THE ARRANGEMENT STINKS. I WON'T PURCHASE THIS REMAKE UNTIL THE ORIGINAL IS PRESENT. MY ORIGINAL 45 IS KINDS OLD FOR TAPE OR CD TRANSFER. THIS IS WHY I WOULD LIKE A NEW COPY OF HIS OLD HIT SONG. I AWAIT FOR YOUR REPLY...... CHAS. J, DEQUARTO CM.DEQUARTO@WORLDNET.ATT.NET

Have a "HAPPY-HOLIDAYS".

ps: I would like to keep this message Anonymous. It's not good for Public Relations and for business consumption.
