5.0 out of 5 stars A great reference for quilters of all experience levels, July 16, 1998
By A Customer
Beyers' color tips are right on target. Her recommendations for choosing dark, light, and accent fabrics for any quilt can truly result in gorgeous works of art. The book is written so that even a novice quilter can understand exactly what to do. There are many color examples and opportunities to practice the skills she teaches. Finally, the color chips inserted at the back of the book are great for planning any quilt, and can be cut out and carried along to the fabric store for precision selection.

This review is from: Jinny Beyer's Color Confidence For Quilters (Paperback)
Beyer's no-nonsense approach gives quilters the tools to create their own personal-preference color schemes, with pizzazz. I read the book, spent a few hours trying out her techniques from my fabric stash, and then started quilting; since that time, I tend to hear "You do such great things with color. . ."! I recommend this book highly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Jenny Beyer's Color Confidence for Quilters, July 3, 2001

This review is from: Jinny Beyer's Color Confidence For Quilters (Paperback)
This book is an excellent starting place for quilters in the study of colors to choose for quilting. The books approach is to choose your main fabric and use it as the bases for your other choices. This is sometimes called a color focus technique or decorator technique. I highly recommend it to anyone who is struggling with choosing fabric for quilts.

Colour theory has always fascinated me and I have read many books about it. This is the first I have come across which deals so comprehensively with the art of using colour in patchwork. Some things I discovered I was doing instinctively, but this book has clarified the process and broadened out my understanding of what works and why. The format is easy to read, the exercises are fun to do whilst stretching the quilter to do things differently to what they have been accustomed. The inclusion of the colour cards in the back of the book is a real bonus and an excellent tool for playing with. I highly recommend this book as a tool for anyone interested in colour; I plan to give it as a gift to others who enjoy the craft.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great color charts, February 25, 2006
By
This review is from: Jinny Beyer's Color Confidence For Quilters (Paperback)
I saw a video of Jinny's quilts and was impressed with her color coordination. The book shows many examples of "tumbling blocks" quilts which are really impressive. The book's color charts provide swatches that you can match at the store when buying fabrics. This makes it easy to coordinate colors to your home decor. (The original book I received did not contain the chart; but with a quick call to Amazon, a replacement was shipped to me within 2 days.)

This is a different way to look at colour, and has led me to be more adventurous than before. Jinny explains in clear detail how to apply her colour technique. I now look at fabric in an entirely different light.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jinny Beyer's Color Confidence should be required reading for quilters!, October 20, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is just amazing. I've been quilting since 1973 and am learning so much from just a quick look and browse (I just received the book). I can hardly wait to really get into reading it from cover to cover. There is a HUGE fold out page in back with Jinny's two Master Palettes plus every page (and it's a BIG book) has full color examples of various palettes and the way they were developed and incorporated into quilts. Jinny has even had the brilliant idea to use black/gray/white pictures just to show what the different kinds of fabrics look like, i.e. wovens, homespuns, etc. I have several of her books but this is my favorite one and the price I paid using Amazon is absolutely amazing!
