5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product at a good value. Superb customer service!
I'm 6'4" and about 285lb. I ordered a size 6 and it was too small in the jacket. I contacted Piranha Gear and they quickly responded to my request for an exchange. I have never experienced such excellent customer service online until this purchase. I received my size 7, and it fit perfectly. It is comfortable; not scratchy at all. 3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed better beginner dogi's out there for little more $
I purchased this beginner gi based on other reviews here. I wanted a lightweight summer gi to alternate with my current fuji single weave. I was so disappointed with the loose threads and bad stitching that I returned the item. I am beginner aikidoka in the Tomiki style. I workout 2-4 times per week. I wash my gi every time after use. I just didn't think that it...

The jacket it very thick and durable, but it breathes and collects sweat very well. The pants are reinforced at the knees and do not wear easily. If I ever need another Gi I'm buying from Piranha Gear.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good beginner gi, December 23, 2007

For 30+ bucks, this is a good gi. I gave it four out of five because gi's this cheap usually are low in quality. Surprisingly, this gi exceeded my expectations. When I first tried it, I thought about how thin the material was, and was a little skeptical about the durability of the gi. However, after a couple of rough rolls on the mat, the gi is still in one piece.

The only gripe I have about the gi is that the collar is very thin, opponents can easily apply chokes. I would recommend this gi to a beginner, but if you've been training in bjj for a while then definitely check out the more expensive brands.

Good:
Low Price
Light

Bad:
Collar and material are very thin

I got this item for my son. The quality of the product is very high for its cost. For sure you can get something of higher quality but you must be willing to pay much more too. This is a great gi for a beginner or a kid that will abuse it and will grow out of it. However, I am sure that my son will outgrow it before seen any tears or damage. It is also an excellent backup gi if you happen to forget the dirty one in the bag. The washing instructions that were included are critical because this is an all cotton unit that will shrink in hot water and in a dryer, there is no way to avoid it. The only thing to be aware is that the sizing charts do not allow for errors and if you plan to wash your gi in hot water and use the dryer you should buy at least a bigger size.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Product for a Great Price, February 23, 2009

I bought this Gi so my wife can practice her BJJ moves with me. Seems well made I have not found any flaws. For the price this is perfect if you are just starting out in the martial arts and not sure you will stick with it. Not as heavy or stiff as more expensive Gi and may not hold up as well if you compete, train hard and work out daily but for the price who cares you can buy 2 or 3 more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good practice gi., October 10, 2008

Overall, I am very pleased with this gi. It is a great beginner gi and a good practice gi for more seasoned grapplers. So far, it has held up very nicely. The only negatives that I have to point out are that the cuffs are not tapered very well so theres a lot of extra material to be grabbed and the collar is thin and not very rigid. These are not really that bad if you use it for general training. This is definitely NOT a competition gi.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good deal for the price, January 2, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am starting Japanese Jujutsu, and made the mistake of having my first uniform tailored before washing and drying it. Now 7 months later, that first uniform looks like I'm trying to fit into my sons clothes. I purchased this Shock Wave uniform because I wanted something that fit, was ok for a beginner, and didn't cost too much.

I made sure to wash it a couple times, and the shrinkage seems to make things fit very nicely. I'm only 5'8, but 200lbs with a 34" waist (I tend towards a muscular build), and it's tough to find things that fit right. I probably won't get this tailored, as it seems to fit well. The elastic waistband in the pants are a nice touch, and it still has a drawstring you can tie.

For the money paid, I'm happy. Piranha also included care instructions which was a simple but nice touch. They seem to have a nice personal service.

4.0 out of 5 stars A little small, October 25, 2011

I ordered this gi, looks good, works fine, my only complaint is that I ordered based on the height guide provided but after washing a few times the top is now just a little short in the sleeves. I would order a size bigger next time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality Great price, April 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this Gi for a jujitsu class that I just began taking, and I really like the overall quality of the product. I have nothing bad to say about it. when the time comes to start competing, I will buy a higher quality that is better fit me, but this Gi works perfect for what I need it for. They are correct in saying that the Gi shrinks! The arms shrunk but the length stayed the same, but I anticipated that and bought a size larger than I needed. This is a great Gi for beginners, and I recommend it for everyone.

Gladly I had read other reviews with after-wash-size-decrease warnings before I purchased mine. I got one size bigger than I am and now after washing and drying it fits good.

Price is good. Quality is good. This product is good for beginners.

4.0 out of 5 stars Second time is better, June 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought the size 3 when I started aikido in janurary and found out it was a little big even after washing it... Then something happen to it and I had to buy another one. So now I'm with a size 2 and I must say, it better fits my body than the first one. The sleeves are not to long and the pant legs are just fine.
