A feast for the eye,
By
This review is from: Jo Verso's Cross Stitch Year: 1001 Motifs to Celebrate the Events of the Seasons (Hardcover)
Designs for every month, every season and all (British and American) festive occasions - with clear instructions to adapt patterns for a personal note. All in Jo Verso's distinctive and much loved country style. However, Verso does use a lot of half or three-quarter cross-stitches and not everyone likes to make those; they need a good eye and a steady hand and are much harder to do on popular aida fabric than on linen. Then again, there are not many other books where you will find so many designs of people in different outfits (according to occupation and season) and everyday items such as garden tools - very useful for personalized samplers.

This review is from: Jo Verso's Cross Stitch Year: 1001 Motifs to Celebrate the Events of the Seasons (Hardcover)
Jo Verso's style reminders me of Legoland, simple, charming and appealing to the heart. True to form, her book encompasses everything she can imagine to tell the story of the year's activities. There are samplers for months, seasons and holidays. There are celebration themes from sports to weddings. There are events from Spring planting to Fall canning, to watermelon and ice-cream cones in Summer. She also includes flowers and simple wreathes. And, borders, borders, borders! Another gift for us to learn from. Simple, yes. Educational, definitely. It's a steal at the current rate.

Seasons in Simple Cross Stitch Patterns,
By Library Lady (Great Lakes State) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jo Verso's Cross Stitch Year (Paperback)
Here's another great book I found at the library and couldn't live without. I love doing cross stitch, but my eyesite just doesn't allow me to do the really detailed patterns anymore. This book is exactly what I look for now days, simple with easy to read instructions. It has four seasons of alphabets, which are adorable and can be used in so many projects. A flower wreath for each month, hundreds of people, animals, places and things to stitch into decorations and gifts. Many can be finished within a few hours. A great book for beginners or advanced stitchers - it's just a lot of fun! Highly recommend.

Review of Jo Verso cross stitch book,
By Janie DeVos (Plantation, Fl United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jo Verso's Cross Stitch Year: 1001 Motifs to Celebrate the Events of the Seasons (Hardcover)
Product was brand new as advertised. Lovely hardcover book. Lots of nice small motifs for little projects, as well as larger, more intricate ones. Lots of info and patterns in this book. It is, however, a British produced and oriented book. So there are lots of motifs that really only apply to British holidays, sports, etc. But, on the otherhand, it does offer the user a variety of unusal cross stitch patterns not ordinarily found in the States. It was shipped carefully and arrived very promptly. I would not hesitate to order through this company again, nor would I hesitate in purchasing any of Jo Verso's books.
