If My Pizza Guy Rode a Broom Maybe the Pizza Would Be Hot,
By Terrie (Little Chute, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Job for Wittilda (Hardcover)
The 47 cats that witch Wittilda has taken in and cares for are down to their last dried rat! Wittilda goes job hunting and becomes a pizza delivery person with the added edge of swift broom locomotion. She loves her job but the competition is fierce. She gets in a bind when she has to choose between her kind hearted ways and her job. This is such a fun book with super illustrations. There's loads of humour, bright colors, and clever little details to search for, hidden among the hubbub on each page. Wittilda will win your heart.

Delightful childrens tale of a problem solving witch.,

This review is from: A Job for Wittilda (Hardcover)
Wittilda the Witch needs to provide for her 47 cats. She seeks a job that matches her talents and finally gets a chance to deliver pizzas. Her broom helps beat the competition. However, just when everything is going great she is forced to make a decision that concerns someone in need. The time it takes to rescue a friend, could cost her the pizza delivery job. Excellent illustrations by Mark Buehner, the same talented artist who did the Taxi Dog books. A perfect Halloween favorite.

This is one of our favorite Halloween season books. I agree that the illustrations might be mildly "creepy" but they did not faze my 5 and 7 year-old girls. A nice quick read. We will be buying more from this author.

I love anything by Caralyn and Mark Buehner, but this has always been a favorite with me and my children.

Wittilda and her cats,
This review is from: A Job for Wittilda (Picture Puffin Books) (Paperback)
Wittilda has 47 cats and is down to her last canned rat. What can she do? Get a job of course! Her first job as a hairdresser didn't go so well. Can she make it as a pizza deliverer? Fun story and great pictures.

I like kitties!,

This review is from: A Job for Wittilda (Picture Puffin Books) (Paperback)
Wittilda is your average cat-loving witch with a heart of gold that leads her to adopt every stray kitty that comes a'calling. Unfortunately, that's a lot of mouths to feed, and soon enough Wittilda is job-hunting to pay the food bill.
It's a charming little story with a very human witch (who happens ride a broom Kiki-style for pizza delivery) and we all sympathize with the cute little kitties.

As with all of the Buehner books I have purchased, this one is great! The story is creative. My kids enjoyed all of Wittilda's adventures from beginning to end. We love looking for hidden pictures on the pages, as we have found in other Buehner books. We even found Wittilda flying through "It's not a shovel it's a spoon"! My kids love finding their favorite cat on each page, and look for all the extra details there are to find. This is a book I enjoy reading over and over again!

Not their best work,

This is a cute book and my four-year-old likes cats, but the drawings are a bit evil-looking. The story is OK but overall, this is not the Buehner's best work. The snowmen books are a much better use of your money.
