My six year old son has a tendency to build up ear wax causing pain. After using Debrox ear drops, this tool has allowed me to look into his ear and help remove any build up. He was a little frightened by it, but was impressed when I told him that Darth Vadar's mom used this on his ears when he was a little boy. It looks like a tiny light saber. Highly recommended, but use gently and proceed with caution.

I received this item from the seller very quickly (within 2 business days) and I just used standard shipping! I was surprised to see how heavy duty this is, from the picture I couldn't tell if this was disposable or even if it was plastic, but it is amazing! I bought this in conjunction with the Dr. Mom Otoscope from Amazon as well. I am a mother of two young children and I absolutely love this product already! I have used it every night since we got it on both of the children (1 year and 2 years). You just have to be very careful about not going too far into the ear--easy to do serious damage. The light is INCREDIBLY bright!! I just happened upon this product by chance while I was browsing for an otoscope, and wish I had known about it sooner! Highly recommend!!!

VERY inexpensive item that will save us a TON of $$$
This little light is bright, easy to use, and allows me to "see" what I'm doing when cleaning out my children's ears. Two of my children inherited very hard ear wax that compacts easily and reduces their ability to hear. This tiny little flashlight is a godsend in cleaning it out before it becomes a problem. The only problem I've had so far is FINDING it (and it's three attachments) because my kids think it is the coolest thing in the world and are constantly taking it to look inside small places or toys. :-)

My wife used to use Q-tips to clean our 2-year-old's ears (she removed some cotton to make the tips smaller). The problem was, that would push some ear wax futher into the ears.
I tried this ear wax remover last night on my girl and I totally love it. It is very bright, and I could see what I was doing clearly. Definitely a 5-star product.

ok, that was a bit of an exaggeration. i could hear before using this product, but one of my ears had been clogged for months. i had tried those liquids you put in your ear for 10 minutes n then rinse with a squirt of water--did it many times. nothing helped. i tried usin a piece of paper rolled up into a point--nope. so i get this thing; i think, this isnt gonna work, nothing has worked. but it did. i very, very carefully and sloooooowly slid this thing as deep as i could, until i could hear it stop against something that felt/sounded hard. i could tell it was not my skin because that sounds differently in your head. anyway, when i felt the hardened wax that had been stuck in there for who knows how long, i applied a little pressure (never to the point where i would endure any pain), and pulled downward in a semicircular motion with the small scoop. well, i did this for about 15 minutes, because it takes time to do it safely. anyway, by the end of it, the water i had running sounded like a roaring waterfall. it was really odd at first; my hearing was so messed up for so long, that things sounded really strange. in my head, i sounded like i had a lisp, the sound of tissue russling was super clear, water drips could be heard for miles (ok, not miles, but they were loud). it was crazy. took a few days for my ear to calibrate itself, now everything sounds normal, only i get 2.1 audio instead of mono. this scoop worked great. i highly recommend it if you have experienced weaker hearing because of wax build up. BE CAREFUL, DO NOT PUT UP WITH ANY PAIN WHEN USING!

Nice idea, but does not work...,

This seemed like a great idea, but it lasted <5 minutes before the light stopped working. I would be willing to pay more for the product if it were made more sturdily.

My husband kept asking me to repeat things recently as he was having trouble hearing. He is a bit too young to be suffering from any hearing loss so I took a peek inside those ears with a flashlight and immediately jumped on line to figure out what I could buy to help him. After reading the great reviews I decided to go for it. With some reluctance hubby finally decided to let me see what I can do and after a few seconds of getting used to this little apparatus I was able to "retrieve" the problem. Let's just say I had no idea the ear could produce such things and I am a nurse! He can happily hear again. That's the best $5.00 I have spent in a while.
Just a tip, I would definitely read up on ear anatomy prior to poking around. You just want to know how deep NOT to go and definitely take your time. This is not something you want to be doing as you are running out the door for work.

I purchased this product after taking my 3yr old son to the doctor a few times for ear pain and fever and everytime the doctor told me he had to much wax in his ears to see clearly if he had an infection - so they would irrigate his ears in the office. I bought an otoscope and finally realized what the doctor was talking about in regards to his earwax and amazon.com had recommended this product based on the otoscope purchase. This products concept is great but I find it to be very dangerous to be used on kids. My 3 yr old loves when I clean his ears and is great in letting me use an otoscope to look into his ears - but any sudden movement can do alot of damage since the point is qite sharp and non-flexible. The light is bright which is great and it comes with 3 tips and has room for 2 of the tips to be stored but no room for the 3rd tip and it doesnt come with a cover. For now I will be sticking with debrox and/or colace in the ears to soften the wax and remove it the old fashion way.

Cheap but highly functional,
By Magendie (USA) - See all my reviews

My 2-year-old's ear was COMPLETELY stoppered with wax, which made him very cranky. While I was waiting for this to arrive, I put earwax softening drops in for two days. Then I used this brilliant little item to pull a huge, hard (but superficially softened) plug of wax out of his little ear. Amazing. However, a couple of warnings: 1) it is made of cheap plastic, and the edges of the little spoons are rough, as another reviewer mentioned. Avoid touching the ear canal with it if possible. 2)It will probably break really fast -- might want to order two. 3) The tip is NOT flexible -- proceed with extreme caution so you don't puncture the tympanic membrane.
Hopefully someday someone will improve on this product by making it from nondisposable materials and making softer (maybe silicone?) tips to make it a bit safer. That being said, I am VERY happy with it -- my 2-year-old said "thank you, Mommy!" after I got the goop out. How can you beat that?

When it arrived and we first turned it on, it came on dim and then went out. Turning it off for a while and then back on had the same result. Multimeter showed nearly dead batteries. Also, good luck putting it back together. This is one the most cheaply made products I've ever bought. It's like one of those cereal box toys from the 70s.
