This review is from: Jobiniando (Audio CD)
Ivan Lins has been related to Tom Jobim for years now, since both of them are considered almost unanimously the best two Brazilian Songwriters ever; and here Ivan does a fantastic tribute to Tom; so fantastic that I can consider this Ivan's best album (IMPO).The selections, the instrumentations, interpretations, renditions are by design; in other words; Bossa Nova / Brazilian Jazz performed by Ivan Lins; what else can we ask for? Every song in this album is awesome, so, picking highlights is very difficult, but songs like "Vivo Sonhando/Triste", "Inutil Paisagem", "Soberana Rosa", "Samba do Aviao" (which he performed in the Latin Grammys of 2002 along with BossaCucaNova), "Este Seu Olhar/Promessas", "Jobiniando" and "She Walks This Earth" on a Techno style, are superb. His guests? - Roberto Menescal on Prodcution and Acoustic Guitar - Cris Delanno on Vocals on "Promessas" - Teo Lima on Drums - Marco Brito on Keyboards - Mauricio Einhorn on Armonica - Marcio Menescal/Alexandre Moreira/Marcelinho Da Lua (Do you recognise these guys?) on sampling - Danilo Caymmi on Flutes - Ze Nogueira on Saxophones - Marcos Silva on Keyboards etc............ Don't take my word for it; buy it and try it out for yourself; I know you'll love it. |
