Book Description

September 16, 2010
High technology will destroy more jobs than it creates. This grim prediction was first published in the 1994 edition of The Jobless Future, an eerily accurate title that could have been written for today's dismal economic climate. Fully updated and with a new introduction by Stanley Aronowitz and William DiFazio, The Jobless Future warns that jobs as we know them-long-term, with benefits-are an endangered species.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Key Volume for the Major Problem of this Decade, December 25, 2010
This review is from: The Jobless Future: Second Edition (Paperback)
When I read this book ten years ago, I thought it was interesting. When you read it now you will think Aronowitz is utterly amazing having in this book predicted the economic story of our time: the Jobless Future! If you want to understand whether the present job situation as it is now is temporary or more deeply systemic and why.. this is surely the book to read! It fills a giant gap, produced also by political fragmentation and relative absence of a necessary national debate.
What is lacking at the present time is any serious discussion or debate on the economy and the key issue of joblessnes. This also has political implications as well as serious implications especially for present and future generations. Perhaps this is not surprizing in a nation now so deeply fragmented. There are many serious structuralist arguments in the book that warrent being followed whether related to technology, globalization or various power movements. Aronowitz is one of the most knowledgeable authorities in this country o the subject given the subjects and books close to the topic that he has written as well as the fact that he has top notch academic credentials. His writing is lucid, highly intelligent and straight to the point and the depth of his background here truly astouding. Read the book it will excite you and inform you!

This review is from: The Jobless Future: Second Edition (Paperback)
This book is a must read for anyone interested in grasping the true situation for workers in America today and into the future. Written ten years ago, the predictions and warnings in the book have come to pass. The reissue includes a brilliant new forward and afterward by Aronowitz and DiFazio.
