From G.I. Joe Sigma Six, comes one of the Joe's worst nightmares on the battlefield: The Ninja B.A.T. With highly advanced, real time combat and strategy programming, as well as a state of the art arsenal at its disposal; the Ninja B.A.T. does the front line dirty work those Cobra cowards don't want to. The acronym B.A.T. stands for Battle Android Trooper, or something like that.

APPEARANCE:
From head to toe, Ninja B.A.T. is 8 inches tall. Including his antennae, he's 9 inches tall, meaning he's eye to eye with most Sigma Six figures. And if you're not a Sigma Six collector, then this figure still looks great towering menacingly over your 4-6 inch figures. He's painted mostly in a dark, marbled silver. His wrist mounted claws are translucent red; just like the blades of his swords, and the bayonette on his rifle. Centered on his chest is the trademark red Cobra logo. The paint is good, there's no noticeable paint application errors. The sculpt is superb, as it flawlessly captures the look of the drawings from the Sigma 6 cartoon. Like most, if not all, of the G.I. Joe Sigma 6 action figures; there's four sculpted holes for accessory storage on the figure's back. And if you own the blue Sky B.A.T. Sigma 6 figure, these holes will allow you to take the flight pack from that figure and attach it to your Ninja B.A.T. Now that's great; Eli Whitney himself would applaud Hasbro's attention to engineering action figures with these kinds of interchangeable parts. And with the numerous Sigma 6 action figures out there, each having their own unique collection of pegged accessories; the sky's essentially the limit for what items or weapons you can exchange from figure to figure. Lastly on sculpt, you'll notice that your Ninja B.A.T.'s foot looks like it's got five suction cups on it. These are not functioning suction cups that can actually hold the figure up on a vertical surface; but they do still look cool.

ACTION FEATURES:
This figure was articulated and sculpted around two action features. First, there's two retractable red talons; one on both the left and right wrists. Next is the extending and retracting grappler forearm, found only on the left arm. The wrist mounted talons mesh well with the overall sculpt, as their release buttons are cleverly sculpted into a spike on each elbow. Next is the forearm grappler cord action feature, which works really well; but prevents elbow posing. But it's still good, and does not detract entirely from the articulation nor the sculpt. The button that retracts the forearm is centered on the abdomen. This button is integrated well into the figure, as it's looks like another metal part or component of the robot's body. The cord connecting the forearm to the arm maxes out at eight inches long. Pulling the cord out clicks it so that it stays extended. Pressing the abdomen button retracts the cord, with a good deal of tension. In fact, I tested this grappler forearm against two of my Sigma six Joes: the smaller, sleeker Snake Eyes figure, and the larger, lummox Backblast. The retracting arm can actually take both figures off of their feet when connected to either figure. And it's so strong, that when retracted, it can pull the Snake Eyes figure up against gravity. But maybe that's not such a good thing; Snake Eyes is not the kind of adversary you want to help defy gravity during a fight...


ACCESSORIES:
There's five accessories total, or maybe four. The shorter sword splits up into two halves, which form two smaller swords. Aside from that, there's a rifle with no spring loaded projectiles or attachments as seen on other Sigma 6 rifles. Also present is a four inch long sword. The swords and the rifle all have pegs, to hold onto the figure's back. Lastly there's an awesome removing chest piece, which exposes several immobile, internal gears when removed. This piece must be gently pulled off by pulling down on it's single top peg; and then pulling out and upwards to remove its lower two pegs. Also, I like to turn the head around 180 degrees before removing this chest plate, just to be on the safe side. This accessory is awesome on several levels. Whether you want your figure to have battle damage, or look like it's undergoing a tune up; this removing piece has set a standard for any robotic styled action figures made hereafter. Lastly, my figure did not come with the foot locker packaging; but that's fine considering everything else B.A.T. has to offer

ARTICULATION:
B.A.T.'s got a ball and socket head, ball jointed shoulders, wrists, hips, and knees. The ankles are ball and socket, and the right elbow is ball jointed. The left elbow can be articulated like a ball, swivel, or hinge joint; but first, you've got to pull the retractable cord out about two clicks. Then grab hold of the figure and move the forearm with two fingers or so. This will somewhat substitute for the lack of the ball jointed elbow. The left ball jointed shoulder, however still holds up on its own even with the retractable forearm action feature. Lastly, there is no Kung Fu grip on this figure. But with all the articulation and action features, I can't complain; this an overall outstanding figure.
