I bought this book for my 5 year old daughter. I thought that she would like the book and her older brother would get to look at it and maybe help her read the book some. That is not what happen, she absolutely loves this book she reads it over and over again. Honestly, I don't see how anyone could see any value to this story. The kid and his big dinosaur go clunking and bashing down others homes. Even though it is an accident, they never say they are sorry for the trouble they've caused, nor do they offer to help make things right. Then after all is said and done, they go back to their cave, build their own fire, make tea...

Honestly, I don't see how anyone could see any value to this story. The kid and his big dinosaur go clunking and bashing down others homes. Even though it is an accident, they never say they are sorry for the trouble they've caused, nor do they offer to help make things right. Then after all is said and done, they go back to their cave, build their own fire, make tea and enjoy themselves. They don't bother to invite their friends, whose houses they wrecked, over to enjoy their fire and have tea with them. Not to mention, that the friends (the parents in the story), were also rude in their response to the dinosaur and Joe-"Go play someplace else", yelled Papa Bear, "you're to big for your own good!". Nice. So, if you want a story to emphasize the rudeness that exists in our society today, this is a great pick.

She carries the book everywhere we go :) She only ask for help when she gets stuck on a word which isn't very often anymore. I would highly recommend this book for early reads :)
