5.0 out of 5 stars Classics From Britain's Pre-Beatles Instrumental Boom, February 2, 2001

This review is from: Joe Meek's Fabulous Flee-Rekkers (Audio CD)
This is a pretty esoteric disc; buy it before it goes out of print. The Flee-Rekkers were a saxophone-dominated instrumental act who recorded in the U.K. for cult producer Joe Meek from 1960 to 1963. The saxes are honking and great, the rhythm section is amazingly energetic and tight and Meek ensures that the monophonic sound is interesting. Find out what the Brits were doing before the Beatles came along. It is not true that there was no original or interesting music coming out of that country before Merseybeat.
