My son bought this with his birthday money--he is 7. He absolutely loves it. The sounds are realistic and change with different actions. He is big into the Army and this toy really does it for him. It is durable for him--he is a rough kid. The only complaint I have is the tail wings come off fairly easily but I think some glue would fix that. I would definetely reccommend this toy and would certainly buy it again.

The picture on the box front looks great. The picture on the box back looks pretty good. The actual jet looks not nearly as good.

The detail on the jet is not at all good. The color isn't black; it's more like navy. The tail fins and wings snap on. They are a lighter shade of navy than the jet and so look like they are separate pieces. The finish on all the plastic makes it look cheap IMO.

The sounds are great. The jet flyby sound is fantastic as are the firing sounds which include both blasts and bullet ricochets. The alarm beep sound is cool, and the several pilot communication sounds are very good.

Also, you can play sounds simultaneously. So, you can play the flyby and the pilot communications. Or the flyby and the gunfire.

For me, the look of the jet is so bad that the sounds could not redeem it, so I returned the item.

I avoided this toy for over a year because of negative reviews. People said that it fell apart too easily or was more blue than black. I saw 2 on clearance for $7 and I said "why not, at least I can see how bad it is." I am almost angry that it is so good. I am angry because people bagged on it and gave it a bad name when there is absolutely nothing wrong with this toy (except for the $30 initial price maybe). First of all, it sure looks black to me. It also seems sturdy as far as toys go. You would really have to play hard with it for the fins to snap off, and even if they do you can just snap them back on. Just tell your kid he can't throw the thing full force, which he shouldn't be doing anyway.

I bought this for my 12 year old son for Christmas. He loves it. It has some pretty cool action sounds with it. Great toy if your child is in to GI Joe and similar characters.

OK, in real life I'm a practical pacifist (make peace if you can, fight to win if you must) and religiously I look forward to a day when "neither shall they learn war anymore". Also, I don't collect toys or action figures for their own sake, but to give me ideas for my own speculative fiction writing. But the kid in me still wishes there was something like this when I was growing up. This is a most impressive warbird, not connected with any real-life air force, yet reflecting what is now possible to a large extent (e.g., stealth technology). Its durability factor is affected only by the fact that its tail fins have to be inserted and (if treated roughly) just might be broken off irreparably.

The Night Raven is designed to be used in various ways, including as a gun complete with trigger for the 12 air-to-air missiles in its huge turrets. Two missiles are fired with each pull of the trigger, and they can be fired in rapid succession. I haven't tried out the battery-powered features (sounds and lights), because again I'm not playing with the toy for its own sake. Since everything else about this toy overall is well-designed IMO, I trust that the battery-powered features are also. The plane comes complete with a very flexible fighter, who can board his mighty stealth fighter via a hatch that opens below the cockpit. The landing gear is solid too, but bear in mind that its wheels don't roll!

I had the NightRaven from the 80s, and thought it was the coolest thing ever. At the time, I wasn't far from right. The older version was HUGE, had the piggyback drone, hidden missile rack, and a drop down 2 crew cockpit. The new version is has firing missiles and makes sound effects, but no drone and only a one man drop down cockpit. I'll call it a draw, as both versions are awesome!

i say better because it has electronic sounds, light up rear exoust, awsome stealth design, red tinted glass high detail decals through out.best cobra jet since the original.

This is a great toy. Not only the vehicle itself is just amazing, the Viper Pilot that comes with it is pretty good too. I have been toy collecting for a while and I have started build my army of Cobra troops for my G.I. Joe collection. This was my first Jet purchase and may not be my last. I would suggest buying this now before they are all gone. I haven't even put the batteries in yet because it looks so good on display already. I think this would be a great purchase whether it is for a child to play with or a collector to display. I bet that after I put in the batteries this toy will become 10 times better than it already is. The missiles fire pretty well and all the detail stickers are really cool. What are you waiting for? GET THIS TOY ALREADY!!!

Wow! It made it here pretty quick, updates on when it was getting to me where daily. Everything looks great and I'm sure my son will love it (and me)

My 5 year old son LOVES this toy. Lots of actions & cool sounds. My son has played with it constantly since we received it a couple weeks ago and so far, nothing broken or lost. Seems durable enough and other than a few of the jet wings coming off occasionally in rough play, it's awesome. Very happy with this product!
