Joe ain't no average American,
By Gen. JC Christian, patriot (Tremonton, UT United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Joe the Plumber: Fighting for the American Dream (Hardcover)
RINO spinmeisters, aided and abetted by the liberal media, have promoted Joe the Plumber as being an everyman, the archetypical "average American." This book shatters that image.
Joe the Plumber is not the "average American." He's the "average conservative," and I thank God for that. Last year, the "average American" elected an Harvard educated constitutional law professor to the presidency. Average conservatives knew better. They rallied behind Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin, people like ourselves; people I proudly call "mediocre Americans." And that's why Joe is still so immensely popular. He's angry, vicious, ignorant, and intellectually incurious. He's one of us, and like us, he didn't learn about public policy and international relations at a university or from books or journals; he learned everything he needed to know by tuning into Rush, Hannity, Savage, and Ingraham. This is a great book, one every true conservative should buy, and more importantly, read. Yes, I know that sounds like a tall order, but it's an easy read. Joe uses one and two syllable words (many of them, written forms of various grunts) almost exclusively. If I have one complaint, it's that the publisher, Pearlgate, printed it in ink rather than crayon like the original manuscript. Other than that, I think it truly is the perfect book for the average conservative.

I should have known better,
This review is from: Joe the Plumber: Fighting for the American Dream (Hardcover)
I'm embarrassed to say that I actually purchased this book. It is pure garbage. As a staunch conservative, I wish he would just stop talking and GO AWAY. We're really not in need of anymore loons like Joe the Plumber. Please do not waste your money on this because I'm sure someone will be willing to give you theirs.

Well, I thought I'd seen everything. No siree! This book is a complete joke! Someone brought it to the office and I took it home and read it. JTP should definitely stick with plumbing. His opinions are so childish and he doesn't waste any time boring the daylights out of you. All I can say is..............Stop this craziness, Joe, or whatever your name is, Puleeeeeeeeeez!

Astonishingly frank and candid,
By Patriotic American (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Joe the Plumber: Fighting for the American Dream (Hardcover)
I was startled and deeply impressed by the honesty and forthrightness with which Mr. Wurzelbacher dealt with his personal, human foibles: his failure to pay taxes, his dependence on welfare, the breakup of his marriage, and why he lied to Barack Obama about his income and his intention to buy a business. What a brave, selfless man.
Hahahahaha, just kidding! Not-Joe the not-a-Plumber is the perfect symbol of today's Republican party -- attention-starved, intellectually bankrupt, pathologically dishonest, blatantly hypocritical, inexplicably proud of his ignorance and bigotry, and utterly unconcerned with the well-being of his fellow Americans and the welfare of his country. I predict this book will become a camp classic.

Mr Grumpy reads a book,
By James M LaRocque "Jim LaRock" (Minnesota) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Joe the Plumber: Fighting for the American Dream (Hardcover)
I could not put the book down. Seriously, something really sticky was on the cover. I think it was some Super Glue. Anyway, with a book permanently glued to my hand I decided the best thing to do was to read it. About half way through the book I decide to cut my hand off. Yeah, it was that bad. I'd give it two thumbs down if I could.

What do you expect?,
By LithKnight "LithKnight" (Redding, CT USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Joe the Plumber: Fighting for the American Dream (Hardcover)
What can you really expect from a guy who got famous by being a lying loudmouth? Since hearing his campaign scenario for Obama (which was pure fabrication AND did not make his point at all) we have known "Joe" was a grade-A schmuck. Since then we have watched him shoot off his ignorant under-informed mouth on a series of topics.
Ordinarily one would need to go to a late-night dive bar to hear incoherent commentary of this quality. Now Joe brings that level of discourse to your home! Meet Joe the Political Theorist - "We have been sliding with every-increasing speed towards socialism since FDR's New Deal was implemented in 1933. It was supposed to pull America out of the Great Depression, but it didn't. Find a historian that tells you different and call them a L-I-A-R.". Joe reminds me of the loud drunk everybody just politely nods at as they back away. Joe's a big thinker alright. What does he say about how the UN should be run? "If you think he [Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad] should be able to step up to the United Nations podium ... and rail against the country that has graciously given him a stage, then are you really interested in protecting our freedoms?" . Yup, Joe thinks the UN should be closed to anyone we disagree with. That sure would make the meetings go faster... Tedious. Tiresome. Juvenile. Simplistic. Jingoistic. Hateful. Xenophobic. Reading this book will lower your IQ and make it hard to look at yourself in the mirror. You will feel dirty. (Full disclosure: I did not read the whole book. I read a few sections and could not continue. It was sort of like biting in to rancid food. You do not need to finish the meal to know the food was spoiled.)

I read it twice but still can't figure out how to fix my toilet,
This review is from: Joe the Plumber: Fighting for the American Dream (Hardcover)
I had chili last week. Long story short, my toilet isn't working properly. I picked up this book to figure out how to solve my problem - instead I learned about a bunch of non toilet-related items. He should be called "Joe the guy who wrote a book" because there's precious little plumbing here.

By far the best book out since the Wassup guys self titled bio. SamJoe tells it like it is, except for the written parts. I've read some really bad books, but this one was the best!

Not worth buying used,
This review is from: Joe the Plumber: Fighting for the American Dream (Hardcover)
I bought this book from a friend. I can't believe that something like this actually got published. It is something awful. The cover of the book should have given me a hint to the horrors I would find inside. I suggest that you stay away from this book, and buy something worth actually reading.

Just Wow..,
This review is from: Joe the Plumber: Fighting for the American Dream (Hardcover)
If you want to read how the base of the Republican Party and the GOP think then this is your book. It is a perfect case study of the average under-educated, never left their block conservative who is angry about the invisible tide of "socialism" that is slowly gripping America. In case you did not know, 'Joe the Plumber' is the unlicensed plumber who claimed to be making over $250,000 a year in his conversation with Obama. The media ran with it and of course when the facts came out it turns out good ol' Joe was really making only $40,000 a year.
His book is full of hypocrisy. 'Joe the Plumber' constantly boasts about how much he loves America and his country but yet the whole premise of his book is about how how evil the government is (of course only because Obama is president). I am no philosopher but isn't government a huge part of what makes up a country? So..to constantly boast about how much you love your country and then to constantly bash government does not make much sense. There is one part in which he claims that Franklin Delano Roosevelt's 'New Deal' never got us out of the depression. Whoa what?! I guess 'Joe the Plumber' knows something that every historian and educated person since the 1930's does not..that the 'New Deal' never got us out of the depression. Of course he is never critical of the Medicare part D drug plan that widely expanded government and added to the deficit. This guy has clearly never left his street. If you are looking at a case study for the collapse of the GOP this is definitely your book. |
