This compost tumbler is of good quality, easy to assemble, and works well.

I am getting another so that I can add to one while the compost develops in the other one.

They go onto the bolt, but will not tighten snuggly as they do on my other one.

Too bad, I wanted to like this product, and in fact bought a second after using the first for a couple of months. But the first unit broke after about 5 months, with the plastic cracking around the tabs which hold on the lid at each end. Dealing with a pile of half composted waste is not fun. Even worse, the consumer report was comically bad. When I contacted Sunjoe/Snowjoe, the US distributor, they told me they don't handle consumer support and that I should to contact the manufacturer in Australia. When I asked them for the manufacturer contact info, they said they didn't have it but I should be able to find it on the web. Yikes! I did reach the Australians, and their response was not surprising--please contact the US distributor for customer support. Grrrr. With repeated angry calls I finally browbeat some poor guy at the distributor into sending me a replacement piece of plastic for $25--not great, but best i could do. It hasn't arrived after more than 2 weeks and I just noticed that the other side of the barrel has cracked as well, so the replacement part won't even get me up an running. Grrrr.

I think the design flaw is having the unit rotate around the short axis of the barrel--the compost falls a relatively long distance when you spin the unit and lands on the weakest part--the end lids and tabs. And then these weak bits carry the full load of the compost when the unit is stationary unless you adjust the unit to be parallel to the ground. Skip this one and perhaps try one of the rotating units that spins along the long axis of the barrel.

I have had mine for about 6 months. I am getting another so that I can add to one while the compost develops in the other one. I live against a wooded area with plenty of animals and this is truly vermin-proof. It does get a little heavy to turn as you fill it over time, but that is the only drawback to the product, and that is not a product-specific criticism, just note that all tumblers will have this issue. It was a breeze to assemble, and I keep it on a mulch bed.

I purchased this product last month and we are very happy with the product. I love the ease of tumbling and how animal proof it is. With this cooler time of the year it is taking longer to get the compost into a finished product. I am planning on buying a second one next month so that I can stop adding to the current one and start a new "batch" of compost. This is a great product and I have recommended it to my daughter who is going to be growing an organic garden with her preschool this year.

We were looking for a composter for home use that was easy to assemble, worth the money and simple to use. This was all of the three and more. Our grandkids can load and turn and it has already produced compost for us to use in our square foot garden.

The problem is, is that the container gets too heavy for the flimsy frame. My frame broke off after 3 months. Also, the compost gets so compacted on one end and solidifies, preventing aeration. Not a great product. I do worm farm composting now and it's much easier and cleaner!!

We purchase this item, as we though the price was great and it would be big enough for our garden.
The original box we received was ripped on one side, parts were missing, and the instruction manual was also missing. Amazon was able to send us another one out the next day, but it was still very frustrating.

As far as the actual product, what a waste of money. The metal stand is extremely flimsy and constantly falls apart, definitely will not last, we'll have to make some changes on there ourselves, maybe build a new stand with woods,so we essentially paid $129 for a plastic barrel, total waste of money.

I bought the Tumbleweed Compost Tumbler in the spring to compost all my yard and kitchen waste. It took quite a while to fill as 58 gallons is a lot and it is constantly compacting itself. However, during the process of filling it, when I would go to spin it all the weight was at the bottom due to compaction and it actually bent the frame the tumbler sits on. Now that it is full there is no issue because the weight is evenly distributed. I followed the directions that came with it and even followed a video I found online and spun it no differently than it was stated to do. I call Sun Joe's up to complain about my bent frame as there is a two year limited warranty on it and they advised that i would have to pay for a new frame as it was not covered under warranty. Not sure I understand that. I would have given it 5 stars as the tumbler is great but giving it 3 as the frame is crap and the customer service was not helpful at all. I will be building a lumber frame that will fit two of these in the spring.

This was very poorly packaged. The box was obviously torn, punctured and repaired with tape. A part was missing though I did find the wrapper. Very poorly done. Now I have to hassle with returning it. I did read about the packaging but thought I would take a chance. Thanks to all that wrote comments about this. I should have known better.
