1.0 out of 5 stars 1952-2002 [IMPORT] Joe Tribute- Strummer, December 7, 2003

This album was originally released as a Clash tribute. I own it as such. So what's happened here, is that Joe Strummer died and some scumbag(s) decided to try and cash in on that fact. That should be reason enough NOT to buy this. If you really want to pay tribute to Joe buy HIS albums and checkout: www.strummersite.com/
A proper tribute will come out someday wait for that one!!

Oh and to the person that never heard of the Business, they are a fairly well known brit streetpunk/oi band. Not bad but pretty one dimensional.

1.0 out of 5 stars Caveat Emptor, September 6, 2003

This is not so much a tribute album as a blatant cash in.

Basically, this album consists of former members of Chelsea, The Vibrators, The Alarm, 999, The Business (who the hell?), The Boys (again, who the hell?!?), RTZ Global (can't say I've ever heard of them!) Test Tube Babies and the UK Subs doing the most horrendous cover versions of old Clash songs imaginable. Basically, you'd expect the average pub karaoke version to be better than what's on this CD.

For instance, Mike Peters of The Alarm doing "White Man In Hammersmith Palais" and "London Calling" is even worse than you'd think it might sound. Which is no mean feat!

This is almost certainly the worst album I've ever bought.

And not only that: according to the liner notes, the album was recorded in November 2001, more than a year before Strummer died. To have repackaged it as a "tribute" to Joe is both crass and absurd.

Let the buyer beware.
