This is an excellent workout video. As someone over 70, I find that I can do all the exercises at one of the three levels. It would also be very useful to anyone with an office job. All major muscle groups are worked as well as emphasis on improving balance, posture and relaxing tension. Highly recommended.

After going through the upper body and abs routine, I felt that I hadn't really done anything and even thought to myself that I should start doing my weights again. However, by that evening and the next morning especially, I actually felt like I had had a good workout. I could feel the muscles in my abs (even my lower abs), arms, and back. I didn't do any of the advanced moves, so now I'm looking forward to incorporating them into the routine.

I bought this DVD as it looked like a quite interesting low-impact workout for baby boomers. I was presently surprised because it was quite challenging and different than any other workout DVD that I have. It has helped me with sciatica pain and general overall toning.

The workouts are a great combination of muscle building (without weights), cardio, and stretching. It would be good for people who want to get started with an in-home workout program or, like me, just to add interest to your current program. There are 3 segments that you can do independently one 20-minute upper body, 20-minute one lower body, and one 15-minute abs workout. You will get a complete full body workout if you do all 3 or light workout individually.

I was surprised, I sweated pretty good during the workout even though there's not a lot of jumping around. You can make it however difficult you want as Joel's older mother and friend provide beginner and intermidiate level, while Joel provides options of higher-level advanced versions of the exercises. In the workout segments, Joel leads the instruction OF high-reps with body movements and stretching in between which I really like on low-impact workout days.

Wow, Amazon has a great price for $8.49, I wished I bought it here instead of Border's for full price. It's a great buy, highly-recommended for any age group!!!

I gained a lot of weight and hadn't exercised in quite some time. I had convinced myself that any exercise regimine was "just too hard" and that I had passed the point of being able to do any exercise that would be of any benefit without causing injury. Well, Joel Harper proves me wrong. You just have to get off your butt and follow his easy to follow exercises given at three levels of difficulty. (His Mom is in the video doing the exercises! Do you really think he's going to recommend exercises that would hurt his own Mother?) This is not a CD about body building or calisthenics or aerobics where you have to watch cutsey little twenty-somethings roll around on the beach with their knees behind their ears while they expose their rock hard abs. It is about maintaing muscle firmness and increasing flexibility as we age. In a very short time you'll be amazed at how much more flexible and lose you'll feel (and you'll have more energy and mobility to boot!). Just do it. At some point you'll start feeling so good you'll even want to exercise. What do you have to lose except a few jiggly excess pounds. It's never too late to look firmer and be more flexible with just a little bit of effort and this CD. Go for it! Do it at your own pace and level, but DO it. This is a good thing you can do for yourself. Thank you, Mr. Harper!

I have 4 other workout videos by Joel Harper. This is my favorite. It's simple to follow, and each exercise can be performed at very-beginner to very-experienced level and multiple places in between. Some exercises from other videos are repeated but given a fresh and different twist. I love the way Joel is just a regular guy, but he knows his stuff well, is passionate about it and wants to share it because he truly wants people to be healthy. Like his other videos, the time flies, and I'm always left feeling like I got a great workout, but didn't have to kill myself. And my trainer is never irritating!

This DVD is great. I started out only able to do part of the program and now I can do the whole workout. And I also am 66 years old and have a bad knee. If I can do it anybody can just do a little at a time. Thanks Joel.

RECENTLY I PURCHASED THIS EXCELLENT DVD AFTER WATCHING PART OF IT ON OUR LOCAL PBS STATION, REALIZING I NEEDED A PROGRAM THAT WOULD ALLOW ME TO GO AT MY OWN PACE AND WORK ON BALANCE. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD PROBLEMS WITH EXCERCISE BECAUSE OF BACK ISSUES BUT REALIZED I NEEDED TO DO THEM ANY WAY. THIS DVD ALLOWES ME TO DO JUST THAT BECAUSE IT LETS ME STRETCH WITHOUT THE STRAIN. i WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE WITH OR WITHOUT ISSUES TO CONSIDER. IT WILL ALLOW ME TO MAKE PROGRESS AS I'M ABLE AND EVEN SHOWS HOW TO RAISE THE INTENSITY WHEN I'M READY TO MOVE ON.

I bought this DVD after PBS ran the fund-raiser version some weeks ago. The DVD has 3 separate workouts: upper body, lower body, and abs. No equipment is needed. Each 15-20 minute workout features 3 individuals demonstrating easy, intermediate and advanced levels, respectively. Joel's 70-year-old mother is the easy level and Joel is the advanced. I'm 60, have a high-stress full-time job and have not exercised for a couple of years, but I've been able to begin these short, common-sense workouts at a level somewhere between easy and intermediate. You aren't supposed to do the workouts on consecutive days, so each day I do either the upper or lower workout before getting ready for work. I feel noticeably better for it, more flexible and energetic - and have been surprised to find I feel stronger emotionally, more upbeat and less anxious/angry at work. I like Joel Harper's relaxed, down to earth style, his regular reminders to breathe - and no size 4 spandex princess chirping at me. I've recommended this DVD to friends and they are reporting similar positive experiences with it. For me, it was money well spent.

a lot of time on your knees?
I watched a PBS complete demo of this DVD and there was little if any kneeling used. It looked very doable. Go for it!
