Excellent way to learn about the human body!,

This review is from: I Am Joe's Body (Paperback)
I remember reading these articles in the Reader's Digest Magazine and really enjoyed them. It is great to find the articles all in one paperback book, as I plan on taking the book on my Scotland trip and can read different chapters in small snippets of time as time becomes available. The trouble is, that the chapters are so fascinating, that they are "like potato chips . . . you can't 'read' just one!"

This review is from: I Am Joe's Body (A Berkley/Reader's Digest book) (Paperback)
Excellent book for a person like me whose education was deficient in anatomy. I wish it were available in digital form for my Kindle. In simple everyday terminology it explains the function of all the important organs of the human body.I was middle-aged before I got this out-of-print book. I'm 81 now and have cause to ponder on deterioration of my body. There is a companion volume for the female body "I am Jane's body" Even in Google times these paperbacks are worth having around the house.

Book arrived promptly and in good condition. I was only disappointed with the quality of the book itself: the cheapest quality paperback probably ever made. The pages are all yellowed. Would have liked that to be known beforehand. I prefer to have more endurable books in my reference library.

For people from 10-100 years old, a study of each organ and how it relates to the whole body. I've used this book for Bible School and other presentations. None like it.

The best thing about this book is the voice given to various body parts by the author. Each chapter division is a new body part giving its own tale about its function in Joe's body. Some of the comments made by the different body parts are amusing. Each part speaks not only about its function in the body, but also includes information about things that can go wrong through disease or hereditary problems. In this book, Joe is a 47 year old man, and this adds to some of the humor. The biggest detraction from this book are side comments made by the various body parts that refer to evolutionary beliefs, some of which are no longer esteemed as fact, even in the pro-evolutionary circles. It is a little sad the author felt it necessary to add these comments, because on one hand he reveals the wonders and intricacies within the design of the human body, and then discredits himself by attributing this to chance, time, and natural selection.
