5.0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST MIX CDs ON THE MARKET FO SHO
Any of the people above who wrote a bad review of this CD is either a complete fool or just plain does not know what good, underground house and techno sounds like. If i heard this set at a party my jaw would be on the floor.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wheres he going?
Ok, we all know joey beltram has been making acid/hard techno tracks for a long time. Infact hard techno seem to be similiar to the new age of tech house, which undoubtly joey beltram would (you think) fall in perfectly. Now I no idea joey beltram was spinning deep house, which in my opinion is the best house there is (from a listeners standpoint). This mix in a sense is...

Any of the people above who wrote a bad review of this CD is either a complete fool or just plain does not know what good, underground house and techno sounds like. If i heard this set at a party my jaw would be on the floor.

Joey Beltram straight rocks your world with this CD. It is a fluid, nearly seamless flow between house and banging techno. I say nearly seamless b/c there are a couple spots where you can hear the mix coming apart. Joey does a great job of correcting them. I must say that this is the only mix CD where I've heard the DJ actually put his hand on the record in order to fix a mix, rather than speed a record up or slow it down using solely the pitch adjuster.

The first three songs are slightly teky-house, the third a poplular house song on subliminal, then he goes into some slammin tekno/tekno-house. a few tekked out songs later he brings in two house tracks that would rock any party ("All Night Long" by Stone Bridge and "Synergy" by Tim J. BY THE WAY THERE IS A REVIEW ABOVE THAT SAYS THIS CD HAS DEEP HOUSE ON IT AND THAT COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG. THIS MUSIK IS PRACTICALLY THE OPPOSITE OF DEEP HOUSE. IT IS JACKIN, IT IS BOOMIN, IT IS BANGIN (i.e. not deep)

Big, big, big ups to Joey on putting out a CD that shows the rest of the DJs in the country how to do it. And that is the truth. If you are into DJing and mix CDs, this cut MUST be in your collection. Stop reading and buy it right now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old School Fan from New York, September 5, 1999

I have been following Beltram's work since he started in the 80's and he has never let me down. This is definetly at the forefront of any mix CD's out there. The tracks are brilliantly chosen and mixed to perfection. If you know your music this is a "must have" in your collection.

It's a long time ago I heard such a great mix album. A lot of DJ's can take a lesson how to make a party CD, just like this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars It was a progressive start from beginning to end., June 21, 1999

It was clearly a progressive start. Joey Beltram definitely knows how to move a crowd. When the dance floor is usually dying down around 2 he brings it back up to speed. Hitting it with unexplainable beats and rhythm. Joey is definitely a frontrunner for the leader of Techno/Progressive Techno.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't let the bad reviews scare you completely off..., September 21, 2002

Here's another one that I found myself asking, "Why didn't you like this when you first bought it?" I think the problem then, and with some of the reviewers, is that Joey Beltram is not consistent with the style of music he mixes on this CD. There's techno, hard house, and some type of other house (not sure if it would classify as deep house--so I won't, because I don't think that it is).

Tracks 1, 3, 4, 9, 10, & 13 would do very well on another mixed CD with the same style of house. Don't get me wrong, I do like these songs; however, they would just fit betta someplace else. The tracks that make this CD stand out and showcase Joey Beltram at his absolute best (if you've been lucky to hear him live) are 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, & 16. While I love track 17, it's a very strange way to end the CD. In my opinion, and this my opinion, it would have been better placed somewhere in the middle of the set. I think this is another reason some reviewers may have a problem with the CD. In spite of all this the CD does seem to somehow come together and give the listener "The Sound of 2AM".

4.0 out of 5 stars for the body, not the mind, March 30, 2005
This review is from: Joey Beltram DJ Mix: Sound of 2 Am (Audio CD)
I think this is a very good cd in that in does what it intends, capturing the dancefloor feel. I think of it as a home listening cd designed to make you feel "not at home" In that regard like a lot of electronic music, it's ultimate danceability becomes more important than the ability of the songs to be considered great.

This mix in a sense is weird. It opens up with an intresting track "Echo" movies into some white label, which leads into "Bad Enough" a pretty good club track. Later in the mix however, beltram seems to end it with a track by the advent, and his own ballpark. The problem is, i dont think Joey really knew what he wanted to play, either he wanted to intergrate his own style with deep house, or simply try out something new, i dont know. This is an abrubt change from his usual underground type mixes he usually throws out live (i saw him live once) and on his last mix CD. I gave it three stars because its not a bad album, but not a great one either.

from a no start, to a worse finish. Joey, please pick the same tracks you would at a party. No real getting down tracks that we are used to.
