This review is from: Joey Goes to Sea (Maritime) (Paperback)
My son found this book the library of our local maritime institute. It tells the story (based on real adventures) of a kitten that gets taken on board of a sailing ship, that is teaching a bunch of young men to sail. It takes place around the 1930's, near the end of the time of sailing merchant marine. They have various adventures that mostly have to do with a cats life on deck, with only glancing mention of the boy's presumed adventures.
Reading level is probably about 2nd grade, with big fonts and thick pages. Its a good choice for kids (especially boys) who like boats AND animals. I wish it were longer, but the length may make it more manageable for younger readers.
