She almost made it.,

This album from the '70's is one of my all time favorites. I never expected to see it again, much less on a CD with bonus tracks! Joey Heatherton was a sexy Ann-Margret type of teenager. She came to fame dancing on Hullabaloo and holding her own with Susan Hayward and Bette Davis in the screen adaptation of "Where Love has Gone" (playing the equivalent of Cheryl Crane). If you don't know who Cheryl Crane is, you'r probably too young to be reading this. Anyway, along the way, Joey cut some forgettable 45's for Coral and Decca, rare items indeed that she and Hip-O were kind enough to include here, but the real treasure is the MGM album which is the centerpiece of this collection. Joey had a hit with a remake of Ferlin Husky's Country hit "Gone" Joey's version is one of my all-time favorite single hits. The Sound on this album can best be described as "Vegas Soft Rock", like Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdink and, of course, Babs Streisand. Lots of horns and elaborate arrangements. There are great covers of patsy Cline's "Crazy", Gogi Grant's "Someone to Watch Over Me", Brenda Lee's "I'm Sorry", and even Barbra's "Pieces (The Road I Took to You)". Joey's in good company here and she doesn't embarass herself. I waited in vain for that follow up album but it never came along. "Life" happened to Joey. It's her story and maybe someday she'll tell it, maybe not. In the meantime here's her classic. Grab it while you can. It's a limited edition!
P.S. When I described this as "Vegas Soft Rock" another reviewer took issue with this saying that "this was not Vegas style crooning". That's not what i meant at all. Don't think Sinatra or Dean Martin. Think Tom Jones or Englebert Humperdink and the Big Brassy Sound they had. That's what I meant by Vegas.

Yes I remember the 60's and 70's! I bought this CD because I am a long time Joey Heatherton fan and recently discovered it was remastered on CD quite by accident. When it was first released I bought one because she used to do the USO tours when I was in the service. Besides being drop dead beautiful in her short dress and "go-go" boots (she still looks pretty good!) she had a great voice and terrific stage presence. The album cover has a nude (topless) photo of her, which by today's standards is pretty tame, but that made the records instantly collectable when it was first released. I did get to see her in person once but never got my album cover signed. Of course mine disappeared from my LP record (remember those?) collection many years ago, and when I saw this chance to replace it I did. Most of the music is in a "Vegas Showroom" style with a big band and some of it is pretty overproduced. She mostly sings songs that might be considered standards today.
However she has a great voice and for those of us aging fans that remember her USO days and/or her Playboy Magazine appearance it is still worth having. It's on my MP-3 player with the rest of my music collection and I still enjoy hearing her. Now if I could just fit back into my old uniform the nostaliga experience would be complete!

PASSIONATE & GORGEOUS VOCALS~BRAVO JOEY!!!,

Great movies were commonplace in the wondrous sixties and "Where Love Has Gone" which was loosely based on the Lana Turner/Johnny Stompanato saga was an awesome Harold Robbins classic major motion picture starring screen legends Bette Davis and Susan Hayward, with the young daughter played by a young and beautiful Joey Heatherton who held her own next to the two giant Screen Legends and gave a fine and moving performance!!! A stunning stand-out with loads of charisma, Joey by the early 70's was a Vegas headliner and on the talk show circuit gave great song and dance performances which showed Joey Heatherton to be a world-class entertainer who could belt it out with the best of them...a wonderful MGM lp captured this talent in top-form and Joey's voice jumped out as a great voice on the radio as the single "Gone" comes off as a fantastic athem...Gershwin's classic "Someone To Watch Over Me" is electrifying and "Shake-A-Hand" is riveting with its gospel-edged arrangement! This collection features that wonderful lp in its entirety for the first time on cd along with fascinating and wildly entertaining bonus tracks which show that popular singers now are bland in comparsion to the great Joey Heatherton who should have gone on to Superstardom but was strangely derailed by life. Listening to these great songs and performances takes one back to a special time and place when the stage was lit up by an angel with a great voice and beautiful face...and could she ever dance!!! Hopefully a DVD of Joey performing will come next and a return to singing and performing would be a joy...too much talent not to! Bravo Joey!!!!

First came across the name Joey Heatherton back in Vietnam days. Heard the song "Gone" on the radio a few years back and have been chasing a CD ever since. This CD is just fantastic. She can really sing. The clarity of her voice is outstanding - you can understand every word. Even though the bonus early songs are a sort of popsicles and icicles sound you can pick up the quality of her voice in them. The jacket type CD cover with the insert and all the pictures makes for a great production.
Just would have loved to have seen her perform live. She is the complete package; good looks, good singer - a Ferrari in top gear.

Joey is not only a very beautiful girl, but she sings some great songs as well. The CD cover itself is not censored like it is in the Amazon description. Also, it's not the only nice picture of her in this great set!

Was so anxious for this collection to come out on CD. Played the LP over and over again in college! What a powerful voice! The bonus tracks are so great! Especially "My Blood Runs Cold". Bad management must had had something to do with her disappearing from the business. The CD is packaged really great. Vintage photos that still look very contemporary.Maybe the nude cover could have been placed inside the CD rather on the cover, but it will remain in my CD player for a long time!

Joey Heatherton is one hot chick.Although she is probably a grandmother by now she was a real sex symbol of the 1960's. The topless photo on the cover is a classic. Furthermore the songs are great, leaning more toward pop than vegas crooning as the other review stated.Given the no talent Lohans, Spears and Simpsons of this age Joey has a great voice and actually puts emotions in the lyrics. The disc is expensive but worth it as a compilation (probably the only one) of her singing career.

She was always under rated!,
This review is from: Joey Heatherton (Audio CD)
Minus the final tracks from her pre 70's days, The Joey Heatherton Album was on of my favorites from my high school days and remains one to this day.....and that was before the "new and improved" cover! Her interpretations of these songs is wonderful and the depth of her emotion is more than moving. The sad thing is that the "Lance scandel" over shadowed her accomplishments with this record and the variety show with her dad.
If you listen to the samples for this CD, you will certainly recognize and appeciate several of the offerings that Joey puts forth in this 1970's remastered album.

Finally! Joey's back!,
This review is from: The Joey Heatherton Album (MP3 Download)
For Vietnam Veterans, Joey Heatherton and Raquel Welch were two of the hotties popular amongst soldiers. Not everyone saw them in person on the Bob Hope shows in Nam but on tv they were there. Thanks for showing up.
When Joey released "Gone" and had a hit with it I was happy for her and I enjoyed her version of the song picking up a 45rpm record and a cassette of her album. This has those songs plus more. Particularly enjoyable are her renditions of "I'm Sorry", "The Road I Took To You", and "Someone To Watch Over Me". Joey was a multi-talented performer singing and dancing on tv shows and even appearing in movies (such as they were. "I'm Sorry" about the movie rap). Here's Joey singing and it's great to have this collection of songs available on mp3 download. Pick and choose and enjoy. I wonder what's with the nekid cover? It's ok but I would have bought it anyway. Good singing doesn't need the nekidness although she was on my wall years ago.

Until somebody digs through miles and miles of old videotapes of vintage TV specials and variety programs for audio performances of a lady who exhuded more sizzle than Ann-Margret ever did (that'd be one HECK of a "bootleg"), settle for this disc. If it had extensive liner notes to complment the SIZZLING pics, this would be 5 Stars. For perspective purposes, play tracks 11-18 before 1-10 to get a taste of her evolving sound, such as it was. A true time capsule found in one special CD.
