Pope Benedict has recently (2011) declared his intention to name St John of Avila a doctor of the church. Be aware he is NOT the other Saint John (of the Cross) who is also from the same period. This work is simply excellent, a model of preaching regarding the legitimacy of the faith and a treasure of wisdom and insights.
