Product Description

Package Quantity: 1

John Boos Wood Cream for cutting boards and chopping blocks features a natural formula of unbleached beeswax combined with food grade mineral oil to penetrate deeply into the grains of the wood, leaves a silky wax barrier and locks moisture in. Used regularly, Boos Block Board Cream will replenish the moisture lost from repeated washings, keeping your butcher block, cutting boards, and utensils from drying, bleaching and cracking. Boos Block Board Cream is a special combination of natural unbleached beeswax and food grade mineral oil.

From the product: "INGREDIENTS Natural unbleached bee's wax and food grade mineral oil." Also, "...For best results let the cream soak into the wood overnight, then remove the excess with a paper towel." Ignore that instruction. You will need to do it more than once. That's not a bad thing, it's just unusual seeing the instructions for a product tell me to use too little, instead of too much.

I used this on a new bamboo cutting board. It worked great and really soaked in well. But don't plan on using the cutting board for a day or two after you first start treating it. A new board will really soak this up, and you want to err on the side of too much (which you can wipe off) versus too little (which may leave the board insufficiently treated).

My board is 11-3/4" x 15-3/4" x 1-1/2", bamboo, with rubber feet on the bottom. I treated the bottom and side of the board first, leaving a little extra coating on it. Then I placed the board on a layer of paper towels to minimize how much I might have to clean up from my kitchen counter. After I rubbed the cream into the top, I left it to stand overnight. In the morning, I was still able to rub more in. I checked back every couple of hours and rubbed in more. I kept finding a few spots that could absorb more of the cream, so I covered the whole thing again.

Don't wipe it off until you are absolutely sure it can't absorb any more. By then, you'll have very little excess cream, and you'll basically buff it off with the paper towel. Your board will be darker, and look beautiful. You'll want to leave it out on the counter, it will look so good.

I bought two of these creams thinking I would use a whole tube on my brand new cutting board.

Do you use moisturizers on your skin? Are all moisturizers created equal? Personally, I think not. Therein lies the difference between mineral oil and Boos Block Cream. Yes, mineral oil by itself will work but it is very greasy. I use John Boos Mystery Oil Butcher Block Oil which has a combination of mineral oil, linseed oil and orange oil (all food safe) and leave it on through the night. After that gets absorbed into the wood, I put a top coat of this creamy Boos Block Cream. It is thick and rich and creamy and puts a nice coating on top of the block. You can apply it after the oil or wait a day. You'll find a regimen that works for you. I think both Boos Block products work in tandem beautifully to extend the life of your butcher block!

I Bought this because i bought the Boos Blocks board with the stainless handles , it goes on really easy with your hand and soaks in perfectly overnight , in the morning you just rub off the extra with a rag or paper towel and its as good as new

I even poured water on top soon after i rubbed off the excess and sure enough the water beaded right off

Another good thing it seems to protect from Fruit stains , We have been cutting a lot of strawberries etc and normally that would stain a cutting board but with the wood cream it doesn't stain at all so far

If you bought a expensive cutting block/board you would be silly not to protect it

I bought this product at the same time I ordered my fresh supply of Boos mystery oil. After letting the oil set overnight I applyed the block cream and also let IT set over night..It just blew my mind, my butcher block table looks NEW again; no more of those tiny scratches from your knifes.....amazing.

I read reviews and reviewers said use mineral oil it is the same and cost less. I ordered it because I don't find the price unreasonable. I have a good investment in my John Boos board and want to take Good care of it. This cream is wonderful. It made such a difference. Buy it. You will not be sorry.

Even if you don't have a nice Boos cutting block, you should consider this product for all your wooden spoons an anything else in the kitchen that has a wooden handle. I used this on my wooden spoons and they feel much nicer and have a great rich color. I am used to my spoons looking like old driftwood - dry and grey. After using this product my spoons look better and feel better.

The only note to make is that this product is oil and bee's wax. That means it is not NSF approved for use in commercial kitchen. If you need that then you may want to look at the Boos Mystery Oil which is NSF.

I use this cream to deep condition my butcher block counter top after I lightly sand it. This stuff is amazing. You just squeeze some into your hands and rub down the wood. It makes it look like brand new all over again and holds up for some time. For me, this is by far the most important product to have on hand for my counter top.
Note: I use the Boos oil in between cream treatments for quick wipe-downs.
