Not Reversible, January 23, 2008
This block is beautiful until you turn it over. It is not stated clearly but the block is not reversible and the quality of the underside can include holes or knots (see below). I am happy with it but would not buy this block for the $'s if I was to choose again.
Quote directly from John Boos "There can be knot or hole in the bottom and this will not effect the durability of the cutting board. This board is also and end grain board which this is a common occurrence for the board to have the knots and holes as this one does. This board is not reversible that is why there can be knots to hole in the bottom. If the customer wants to return the board they will have to pay for the freight to be returned and a 25% restocking fee."

Stunning looks, surprising double sided!, November 15, 2011
This review is from: John Boos 18" Round Walnut Chopping Block (Kitchen)
I was able to get this cutting board for under $90. I am not sure whether or not I would purchase it for the full price (+$250). It is amazing. Looks good-its a big block of wood. When you really aware and are able to break down the very simple process it takes to create something like this, less the industrial grade sanders and circle cutters, it makes it really hard to justify the price a bit. They did a great job- however at the end of the day its a bunch of 3" stubs of walnut glued together, cut into an 18" circle by a single machine and then sanded for a few minutes. I guess I will just have to follow up in a year to report back on the full use.
