John, a graduate of John Carroll University and successful Ford Motor Company executive (1959-1992), has been a Hospice volunteer since 1990. He has received Pastoral Bereavement Counselor certification and a Certificate in Spirituality (Kino Institute of Phoenix, Arizona.) In 2000, he was awarded a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministries from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota.
In July, 2010, John was ordained by the Catholic Diocese of One Spirit.
In order to help grievers, caregivers or anyone on a spiritual quest, John shares his story, his experiences, his wisdom-discoveries in a series of workshops and seminars lasting anywhere from 45 minutes to a full day and especially on weekend retreats with his Sacred Quest Team. More and more, John's workshops--by request--have centered on Spiritual Growth.
In addition to his workshops, John has been invited to speak at a number of state, national, and international conferences: Michigan Hospice Organization Symposium; National Association of Lay Ministry; Kings College Conference on Death and Bereavement, Canada; The Compassionate Friends; National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization; The Federation of Christian Ministries (FCM) and Call To Action (CTA).
John has written a number of books in free-form poetic style on his life experiences, spiritual discoveries, and frustrations with institutional church. He also has been published in Spirituality magazine. His article Forgiveness: A Key to Grief Healing (based on his Master's Thesis) has been published in Healing Ministry magazine. Signed copies of his recent books, shown below, can be ordered directly from John at firstname.lastname@example.org or Amazon.com. His website, Sacred Quest, is www.sacredtorch.com.
