David Geherin is Professor Emeritus of English at Eastern Michigan University, where he taught courses in modern and contemporary British and American literature as well as several courses in crime and mystery fiction. He is also author of numerous articles and several books on the subject--Sons of Sam Spade; John D. MacDonald; Elmore Leonard; The American Private Eye: The Image in Fiction; and Scene of the Crime: The Importance of Place in Crime and Mystery Fiction. The latter two were finalists for the Edgar Allan Poe Award given by the Mystery Writers of America. His latest book--The Dragon Tattoo and Its Long Tail: The New Wave of European Crime Fiction in America--is due out in 2012.
