This is an excellent compilation of John Denver's work. It contains 42 of his greatest hits making it the largest collection I have found. It features simplified arrangements with notes, tab, chord charts, and strum and pick patterns. This makes it easy for new guitarists or seasoned musicians. I highly recommend this collection no matter what their skill level is.

I just started playing the guitar a few months ago, and thought `if I could just learn a few John Denver songs I would be successful.' I got this book and now, in just a few weeks, I know even more then a few. I do wish the book would lay flat, or that the songs that had three pages would fold out, it's hard to flip pages in the middle of songs, but that's the way it goes.

This book has been so much fun. I am a huge John Denver fan, and just learning how to play the guitar. The problem with this book is that it didnt have a spiral binding. Thankfully I have a thoughtful husband who took it to Kinkos to have a spiral binding put in it before giving it to me for Christmas! It should be able to lay flat so you can read it and play the guitar at the same time.

This book is great for me at my level. I have loads of fun singing these songs and performing for my wife and kids. This book has brought me a lot of joy.

Great Anthology of most Denver fans favorites, easy chords, simple arrangements are very easy to play for beginner to intermediate guitar players, probably way too easy for accomplished players. Even able to use the book for keyboard fake book. All in all a worthwhile addition to my collection of guitar song books.

Although not new to playing guitar, I am no expert either. As a keen John Denver fan this anthology certainly works for me and has given me a lot of pleasure. Some of the numbers (about half) will need to be transposed (or Capo'd) to be able to play along with the man himself - but then again some of us can't sing along in the same key anyway; so maybe the key supplied is better in some cases. The clear and fairly simple presentation is well worth the money.

This is a good book to own, and I enjoy playing the songs in it. I can't say much about the chords since I use the melody lines on my mandolin, but my sister plays them on her guitar and they are well matched with the song. :D One correction for the book, using the melody line, the notes are not what the cds sound like. This is because its an 'easy guitar' book, so the publishers did not want it arranged with too difficult of notes. The tones are the same, but the note value is not like the song John Denver played. Once you've heard the cds, its nothing to just play the notes the way they are supposed to sound using their straight quarter notes on the page. It is a very good book, and to use two instruments in it is really nice. I reccomend the book for easy to memorize campfire songs.

I enjoyed playing through this book as I am learning the basics of playing the guitar. I have already bought and used about a dozen books and I have found many of them don't sound right to me or don't include useful notations for people that are still learning chords and patterns. I was able to play many of the songs early, and still have others to master. The book comes with chord charts so each time you have to play a new chord it shows where your fingers need to be on the frets. This is helpful for me, and is helping me learn and master new chords. If you like John Denver and are within your first year of playing guitar - I would strongly recommend it.

Overall this is a good book, but doesn't exactly match the recorded versions of some of the songs, probably because this book is labeled easy guitar, the chords used in this version are easier to form. I think from a book I had years ago and now with all the moving can't locate, that Rocky Mountain High was originally played with a capo on the first fret. Some of the other songs were different also. I recommend this book if you are beginning guitar or maybe in between beginning and intermediate or if you just like John Denver's songs.

This is a wonderful collection of John Denver Songs. My grand-daughter is a beginning guitarist and can play songs from this book.
