The Best You Could Possibly Buy,
By A Customer
This review is from: John Denver Anthology (Paperback)
This is a great book for anyone who is decent on the piano (or guitar) and loves John Denver. The music includes all of the words, so you can sing while you play. The songs are: American Child, Annie's Song, Autograph, Back Home Again, Calypso, Christmas for Cowboys, A Country Girl in Paris, Dreamland Express, The Eagle and the Hawk, Eagles and Horses(I'm Flying Again), Eclipse, The Flower That Shattered the Stone, Fly Away, Flying for Me, Follow Me, For Baby (For Bobbie), For You, Garden Song, Goodbye Again, Grandma's Feather Bed, Heart to Heart, Higher Ground, How Can I Leave You Again, I Guess He'd Rather Be in Colorado, I Want To Live, I'd Rather Be A Cowboy (Lady's Chains), I'm Sorry, Joseph & Joe, Leaving On A Jet Plane, Let Us Begin (What Are We Making Weapons For?), Like A Sad Song, Looking For Space, Mathew, My Sweet Lady, Never A Doubt, On The Wings Of A Dream, Perhaps Love, Poems, Prayers, and Promises, Rhymes and Reasons, Rocky Mountain High, Seasons of the Heart, Shanghai Breezes, Shipmates and Cheyenne, Starwood in Aspen, Sunshine On My Shoulders, Sweet Surrender, Take me home, Country Roads, Thank God I'm A Country Boy, To the Wild Country, Welcome to my Morning (Farewell Andromeda), What One Man Can Do, Whispering Jesse, Wild Montana Skies, and Windsong. You definitely get your money's worth, I highly recommend this book.

This was John Denver at his best, all his greatest hits and then some... This is a absolute buy for anyone who loved John Denver or for anyone who enjoys good heartfelt music. Brings back all the memories of better days gone by.. when life was a little simpler.

If you play guitar, don't bother.,
By
This review is from: John Denver Anthology (Paperback)
If you play guitar, don't bother with this book. This is a piano book with some guitar chords thrown in. I've played guitar for more than 30 years (also play mandolin) and I am quite disappointed. The beautiful open chord intro to Eagle and the Hawk is missing, the 12-string guitar intro to Rhymes and Reasons is NOT there, and the key for Take Me Home, Country Roads is not original. Compare it to any "guitar" book and you'll see what I mean.
Piano players will most likely enjoy it, but then John didn't play these songs with a piano. I'll be looking for a better book.

Version II,
This review is from: John Denver Anthology (Paperback)
This is the second book with the title "Anthology". It includes some of the songs from the first version, but when reissued, it was updated with some of John's later works. There were some very good songs from the first edition that were left out; but for those of us who admired John's work, there really aren't any BAD JD songs.
Regardless of your playing ability, you'll find most everything you need to play John's songs pretty faithfully to the original recordings. In fact, with the help of this book, and recordings of the songs, you should be able to actually improve your ability if you're a beginner. For those of you who are more advanced, you'll be able to jump right in there and go to town. It includes capo positions, and special tuning notes that are accurate to John's style, and easy enough for a novice player to follow. If you're a fan of John's at all, this book is something you should have. Enjoy!

Likely all the Denver you'll ever need,

This review is from: John Denver Anthology (Paperback)
This is the complete works, except for a few songs that may be your personal favorites. Organized almost alphabetically. Decent range of difficulty across the songs, but most should be manageable by intermediate piano players. Also contains a couple of pages with John's thoughts about his favorite songs.

For You,
By
This review is from: John Denver Anthology (Paperback)
I selected this book as I needed 'For You'. I was very pleased with this arrangement. Great selection of 54 songs with reflections by John.
Chords including allowing all levels and guitar to enjoy and expand. The glossy front and back covers make this a great gift. I am very pleased with this John Denver Anthology and highlly 'reco' this Cherry Lane Music book.

We're John Denver fans, I'm learning the guitar, and SWBMO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) is returning to the piano after many years absence. This book fit all of our needs. It contains a good variety of his songs and music and includes the chords and tablature which makes things a lot easier for me.
We're thinking about buying a second copy to make it easier for us to play together. Our only "complaint" is that it is that we would have preferred spiral bound so it would lay on the music stand better but that wasn't an option. Note that I am reviewing what I bought, an excellent song book, not what I wished was different, therefore it is immenently worty of the five star review. We "remedied" the binding with a quick trip to Kinko's where they cut the old binding, laminated the front and back covers, and the spiral bound it, all for less than $10. Also, as a side note, shipping was quick and very well packaged.

Good Collection of Songs,
By
This review is from: John Denver Anthology (Paperback)
This book is a good collection of John Denver songs. Although there are quite a few lesser known songs, the good ones are all here. Most are written in an easy to play key designed for beginner to intermediate guitar players, others will give you a little more of a challenge. Overall I would highly recommend this book for John Denver fans.

Classic Joy,
By
This review is from: John Denver Anthology (Paperback)
John Denver was a musicians singer who just happened to play guitar. Dont discount him because he didn't play the "hip" role. I admire him because he stayed true to himself. As a musician I still use and go back over his material. It is great.
