Product Description

John Elway's Quarterback is the home video game you've been waiting for. So real you can see the game like a quarterback does, from the line of scrimmage. You call the plays, you throw the passes, run the ball, and make the tackles. It's third down and a long four yards to the first down that will stop the clock. No time-outs left. The weak side linebacker is lined up inside his defensive end. They're coming! You check-off the play at the line of scrimmage and call for a quick pass to the tight end. He breaks it for a T.D.! This is the game made for every kid who ever wanted to play the game as well as John Elway.

2.0 out of 5 stars May Be A Good Two Player Game, May 9, 2010

This review is from: John Elway's Quarterback [E]
I remember this being a great arcade game, but the NES version is a poor translation. If you're playing against the computer, it will always be the default New York. It's almost impossible to lose against the computer. It never punts on 4th down, but instead almost always throws an interception. Tackling the receiver seems to insure an interception. On offense, simply hold down the B button and move the arrow until it's near a receiver, then release. It doesn't really matter much what play you run though shotgun and bomb are the safest. The computer middle linebacker always rushes so you don't have to worry about coverage on the receivers. Finally, if you let the play selection clock run out, the default play is a weak line of scrimmage but if you pass the ball quickly to one of the open receivers, he then out-runs the defense, at an abnormally rapid speed, for an easy touchdown. The graphics and sound are the basic, early-period NES vintage. It may be a good two-player football game though.
