1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother September 21, 2013

Horrible acting and none of the so-called actors actually talked. It was all a voice-over. Narrator was repetitive in his description of John's life -- the same lame points made over and over again -- and even though this flick was billed as a description of his airplane accident, only the final five minutes of it actually matched the film's title. Horrible.

Read all the other 1 star reviews. I'm doing research on a flight topic and this is about 180 degrees counter to the hard facts regarding what happened. Super speculative about "what was going on at GEORGE magazine..." & their location choice for reenacting "the offices of John's publication" and John Kennedy, Jr's "desk" hilariously imply he was going broke and procured old metal desks from a second hand store. (video footage of him in meetings at his office can be seen on youtube, so I know they were off by a few $100,000's on the decor) That much detail "poorly depicted" along with padding in 50% of "history" that had not occurred in the "final 24 hour" - All I can say is shame on the producers for doing this to the Kennedy family and also to slay history by presenting crap as factual information.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting... March 7, 2014
Format:Amazon Instant Video
This is a well structured sequence of events but completely hypothetical.
The facts that might have led to the crash indubitably have deeper roots than the events that took place in John's last 24 hours.
This documentary reflects a thorough recollection of information that seems to make sense.
On a different subject, the production lacks attention to minor details such as the unkempt image of the actor who plays John's role which misrepresents his unique and naturally classy looks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Poor Little Rich Boy November 9, 2010
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I was very saddened when Aaliyah died in a plane creash. However, JFK Jr.'s death really spooked me out as I have some things in common with him. I was going through something traumatic in the summer of 1999 and his death was a symbolic reminder of that time. I have personal reasons for being intrigued by his life and passing.
All fictional and non-fictional discussions of the Titanic tragedy emphasize that the sinking was caused by more than one factor. The iceberg was not the only culprit. Others include not having binoculars, ignoring warnings that the areas had icebergs, not having enough lifeboats, classism, etc. This work says JFK Jr.'s death too had multiple causes. His marriage and magazine troubles were weighing on him. He didn't bring a co-pilot. NYC traffic slowed him down when he was trying to fly in sunlight. He had no or little experience flying in darkness. What really hit me is that Jackie told him not to fly and he did it anyway once he passed.
This work is similar to other series installments in which the narration switches back and forth between the last day and the subject's rise to fame. When introducing an interviewee, the camera walks up to the person in an XFL, theatrical style. I got the feeling that B-listers were interviewed here, rather than those who were truly close to JFK, Jr. The narrator called Brown University "smaller and more liberal" compared to Harvard or Princeton, and I would agree. I think JFK, Jr. attended Exeter or Andover, very fancy-pantsed high schools, but that is surprisingly not brought up.
Most series installments deal with celebrities who overdosed. Their deaths aren't as visually horrific as what is seen here. Watching Mrs. Kennedy and her sister scream on their way down was painful to watch.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting video clips January 16, 2014

The actors weren't really that good, but I enjoyed the video clips of the real JFK jr and family. That's what made it more believable. I remember that weekend like yesterday. :(
