Product Description

Charming yet sophisticated, this leather mary jane-style shoe from John Fluevog blends contemporary with vintage flair. The Malibran's decorative stitching around the toe, criss-cross design straps, and 2.5-inch heel complement both skirts and pants, while the padded insole and treaded rubber bottom provide your feet with all-day comfort.

John and his longtime friend and ex-partner, Peter Fox, go waaaaay back. Before they founded Fox & Fluevog in 1970, they worked at Sheppard's, a venerable Vancouver shoe emporium, albeit a tad on the conventional side. As you can imagine, John and Peter felt a wee bit constrained, selling brogues all day to businessmen in suits and servicing only the occasional hipster. Then one day the miraculous happened, and it was followed by the inevitable: an old warehouse full of turn-of-the-century footwear (men's & women's, in mint condition, no less) became available at a ridiculously low price. In a nanosecond, John and Peter were out the door and into their own store, fully stocked with brand new fifty-year-old shoes that, in 1969, were right in style. Fox & Fluevog immediately became the very coolest place to treat the feet, and has remained so ever since. Around 1980, Peter heard the siren song of New York City and moved there to open his own store, specializing in design of ladies' (particularly wedding) shoes. John took over the business and built it into the multinational mega corporation it is today, along the way forging his undaunted reputation for the world's most distinctive shoes.

I teach Theatre and am on my feet all day long. My shoes have to meet high standards. For many years Danskos were the only shoes that met these strict standards until I met the Operetta footbed by Fluevog. I currently only have the Malibrands, but plan on expanding my collection with the Giulia this winter. The leather is soft and supple (I have the black). I've noticed the sole can scuff the leather but easily rubs off. Very comfortable and very versatile, I wear these with everything from jeans to tights and a jean skirt to dress pants. Literally every time I wear these I get a compliment from someone from all types of people: young, old, urban, suburban, black, white. What a great shoe...now if only they were a little more in this teacher's price range!!!

I had my eye on the Malibrans for a while, and finally made the splurge. I was looking for a shoe that I could wear to work, walk around downtown, and to and from my bus to home (a little over a half-mile) and not come home crying in pain. The Malibrans totally fit the bill. I like the rubber sole, which keeps me from slipping and sliding on days when it's rainy (of which there are quite a few in Seattle). The message on the bottom says, "Your love makes me sing. Arise! Come! My darling, my beautiful one, come with me." (Song of Solomon)

So I've walked over 3 miles and kept them on all day (10+ hours) - and they are great. No complaints from my feet or toes. The band over the top has an elastic, so if I wear tights or socks, it adjusts with my feet. Inside is a small arch support, and there would be room for an insert if you so wished. I purchased the Baccarat Russo (Red) which pairs with more colors than I had expected. As with most Fluevogs, people notice them (though they aren't as flashy or noticed as often as other pairs). These shoes are so great, I am seriously contemplating also purchasing the gray.

These shoes are very comfortable! I wore them walking all around on my vacation without any problems. So cute with a bit of an edge to them. I have worn them several times so far and received many compliments (I have the red ones). I highly recommend this shoe for anyone who wants a stylish on-the-go shoe. Very well made. Will accommodate a wider foot and has a roomy toe box.

In Melbourne, Australia I previously purchased a purple patent pair and loved how comfortable they were. This was about 2 years ago and they've still be going strong. One thing to note is that is you are someone who wear through their heels quickly, the rubber that is used isn't that durable and will wear through relatively quickly. However, the rest of the sole at the balls of my feet and so forth are still going strong and has only worn through the words that were engraved by the treble clef and musical notes are still clearly discernible.

My order took three weeks to reach Queensland, Australia. I placed my order on 10 August and it arrived 1 September. I am happy with the length of time taken to reach me. It would have been great if I was able to purchase the red pair but unfortunately there isn't one in my size.

This shoe is good for wide feet. I purhcased a US9.5 and my feet are about 10-11cm wide and the length is around a US9. I purchased the Australian 8 in the purple patent. My US9.5 ones will require very little breaking in as the width is good. The breaking in process won't be uncomfortable for me either (not blisters or feet being squeezed too much initially). I put inner sole inserts at the ball of my feet and it pushes my foot back into the cradle of the shoe and takes care of any issues associated with the shoe being slightly too long. My feet are also relatively flat and I have a low arch and I do not experience any rubbing on my arch due to my arch being lower.

The heel is sturdy and sits well underneath the foot so that it's supported properly. I can run around all day in them and not feel the pain associated with wearing heels. I injured my big toe joint in the past so I don't go above a heel this high.

Do you Fluevog? If you don't, you should. Comfortable shoe that is just funky enough to be fun and traditional enough to pass in a law office. I could run in these things if I had to. Plus, they are cool enough that they draw compliments from strangers. What more could you want in a shoe?

Fun, sassy, comfy, unusual. Typical Vog Love. I usually wear a 6.5 wide; I ordered and fit into the 7s in this style.

Love these, have only had older models of this style, in which the 8 is slightly big. On these, the 8 is perfect, and I usually wear a 7.5, so the half size up in Vogs is still standard. Beautiful color, extremely comfortable right out of the box. THe photo doesn't show the stitching contrast as clearly as it shows on the actual shoe however. Definitely 2 different colors on the red. Cannot recommend these enough!

I was constantly hopping on John Fluevog.com to perve of these shoes and finally gave in because of all the good reviews they got. Believe them. They are so comfy and cute. I got the wine/red and am tempted to get the black. TOTALLY worth it. Re the sizing they are slightly wider. I got a 9 and my Pearl Hearts are a 9 and the Pearl Hearts are a tad tighter. Buy them!
